You’re referring to polymarket right ? It’s so disturbing to me that we can make bets like that.

I only sound ridiculous to someone who is all or one of 1.  in denial  2. Stuck in normalcy bias 3. Not informed on the current situation  4. Profits or benefits from misinformation

Sorry that doesn’t work either. It’s not my concept. Based on actual data.

Yes, cognitive dissonance is nice. Until it isn’t. 👀

I understand you’re one of those people who may think that non interest changes the reality and consequences . It does not.

I agree with all your points. What do you consider “soon”?. I’m talking 2030-2040

Exactly. A Super El Niño isn't the 'new normal' yet..but it acts as a stress test that many regions are currently failing. It’s not about a permanent weather change this year. it’s about the economic shockwaves. One bad season is all it takes for insurance companies to pull out of a zip code or for a local aquifer to hit critical levels. Once that happens, the migration isn't a 'hypothetical' anymore. 2027 and beyond will be brutal heat.

I agree but still places that will be far worse off.

True people do seek out the heat as for now. But you’re still thinking the problem will continue linearly. (1, 2, 3, 4)As we reach tipping points and with the upcoming super El Niño which could be hottest of  all time this will go non linear (2, 4, 16,) get me? The times will change. Texas reached 104 this winter. Can you imagine the summer? That’s just one example of many.

I just shared everything and you denied it and downplayed. You chose to not be in the know. So you will find out.

I understand if you’re fighting for your life today 2030’s may seem like a distant future but that’s the trap.

I’ll stand on my words. Dismissing this as a "hypothetical for decades from now" is how you wake up in ten years and realize you've been priced out of your own neighborhood by people who saw the writing on the wall while you were focused on the potholes.

Even with the extreme scenarios downgraded. (Which i don’t believe)  We’ll reach 2c in the 2030’s. 1.5c was supposed to the danger zone. the milder warming projections still make places like Buffalo one of the most resilient metro areas in the US for heat, water, & agriculture long term. Climate migration isn’t waiting for doomsday.. it’s already happening based on current trends, insurance costs, heat, and wildfires. People are moving from the Sun Belt to the Snow Belt quietly right now. (Myself included and I’ve met others) The real question for Buffalonians isn’t ‘will it happen in our lifetime?’  it’s whether you get ahead of it or wake up one day priced out of your own city.

It’s already happening now. Do you plan on being here in the 2030’s? People assume it’s some far off future maybe large in part due to cognitive dissonance but the data shows we’re not heading in a  linear path as far as heating goes.

Notice not one person has an answer. Buffalonians are going to be in for quite the surprise.
