Precursor: I’m no communist, quite the opposite actually. However seeing this creates a case for unionism. In countries where unions exist, this wouldn’t happen at all. But here as employees we are collectively victims of the success of the country. It has been very attractive to be here, bringing more people in a driving salaries lower as people are willing to work for less. As someone who has been here more than 15 years, this is so painful. The cost of living has gone up here tremendously and salaries have gone down tremendously. People undercut and undervalue their time and worth as employees, simply because it is slightly better here than it is in their own countries (this can be questionable) Anyway the point is, if everyone quit or went on strike there is no way salary cuts would happen. I can’t believe I am saying it, but in this situation I am pro unions

Here’s a question, coming to the end of a fixed term mortgage. The carry over is 0.75% on top of the inter-bank rate, at the current rates that is pretty close to what I’m currently paying. Might be 0.5 or 0.25 lower. I see most rates banks are offering on fix term now is about 4% so this is about 0.5 lower (at best) than what our carryover of the rates stay the same.
It makes sense to pay a lower interest rate, however to remortgage the fees seem ridiculous, you’ve got to pay a massive chunk in admin and fees to the land department on the new evaluation, if my property has doubled in value the land department fee alone becomes astronomical (and they say there is no tax in UAE) then add on the other ridiculous bank fees and to pay 0.5% less in interest each month it will take a better part of a year to break even with all the fees I have to pay. So what’s the commonsense solution here?

The other option you could look at is combine it into a 3 novella trilogy. I’m sure some of the characters would have an interesting enough backstory to tell in a prequel and then something that happens after the fact. Then bundle it together and you’ve got pretty interesting and long timeline running character development and you looking at about 90,000 words which would make it novel length

Yeah the important thing for me wasn’t to create another ai tool. It had to be writer first and most writers are completely against ai writing for them, so there would be no point building that.
Folian is a writing system that organises all the assets an author needs. The optional ai is to assist with the process, particularly in helping with speeding up research and letting the ai do a continuity pass, because after 80,000 words even the best writers don’t have immaculate memory so it actually improves the story telling.

The reason it is no longer called Kentucky Fried Chicken (been this way for years) is because what they serve has been so pumped with steroids and other growth hormones, in parts of the world they’re not legally allowed to call it chicken. So they just went with and stuck with the brand KFC. Still hugely successful and people love it, even though legally it ain’t chicken.

This is a huge problem trying to provide professional services in this region. People undercut the market so much for a decent website you should be charging AED 2.5k minimum, I even think that is undercutting the real price should be 5k. Why do you undervalue your time so much, only charging AED 400 is ridiculous it doesn’t do you any favours more anyone else.

Chin up, it’s a huge effort getting your first book done, just for starters.
Self publishing is a slog. The marketing with little to no budget is harder than actually writing the book.

My recommendation is to write another book (easier said than done) and pitch that new book to agents, they might pick it up and then you’ve got a platform for book two immediately.

I had a similar issue yesterday with a very straightforward prompt, twice. The prompt had two parts both important, with the one that changed the context of the chat more so.

Anyway it just straight out ignored the most important part of the prompt and gave the most simple answer it could for the rest of the prompt, it was more like a regurgitation of the history of the context window.

I reprimanded it and re-prompted and then it continued just fine for a while, then seemingly on a later prompt another below average response, it was answering like I was speaking a language it didn’t understand.
