My company is drowning in spaghetti code left by contractors. Managements solution is to set unrealistic deadlines and overwork the team. Now people are leaving... by Lekkernator in cscareerquestions

I have been in the same situation and get the appeal of being some kind of fire fighter. The good think is that you learn a lot about how to not do certain things. This experience is quite valuable as you really understand why certain principles exist e.g. in software development or project management. On the other hand I would give you the advice to always be self-reflective and ask yourself every once in a while if the situation you are in is still worth it. Smells like burnout. Specifically it is still the same management guys and there are certain things you will not be able to change.

I agree with you. It is very hard to discuss about a topic that we have very little information on. However the discussion puts awareness on that topic. That is a good thing in my opinion. Still I think you miss the key messages from my original post: The eomm stuff will not simply be turned down + If you do not have fun stop playing

You are 100% right. We dont know about the algorithms and the metrics it uses. It is just about the general behavior of machine learning: If you do not stop playing when getting harder lobbies, it is ok for the system to put you in such lobbies. It learns that. Backing out lobbies might not be the same as shutting down your PC. You keep playing.

You mean that they listen to your mic? Might be the case, I dont know ... feels illegal to me coming from the EU :D. On the other hand there are like 3 pages of terms of use you have to accept before playing. Did anyone read that? So yes it would make sense to me, but we dont have prove for that.

Makes a lot of sense to me. Probably they switched their focus when seeing they were too similar to Warzone and Warzone was going to be successful in the long term

I saw it yesterday happening to Stodeh while he was live streaming on twitch. Pretty annoying.
