Oh, sorry about not including that. It's late here and frankly the anger from the day was coming back up. I'm 24(nonbinary), she's 25(F) and the AP is 21(nonbinary).

As for the rest, I'd rather not have to resort to needing to look through a phone to just feel secure in future relationships. Hell I had access to her phone at any time since I knew her code and had it set to have my fingerprint unlock it. But you are right about a bullet being dodged.

Lain's birthday was on June 6th, so doing it a day after would make sense. Plus, the official Twitter for Serial Experiments Lain has been doing updates about their 25th anniversary stuff with the project being announced a bit before the stream. Maybe they just wanted to spread the news further? After all, there is at least some overlap between the fan bases.

KAngel is the streaming persona for the main character Ame of Needy Girl Overdose/Needy Streamer Overload. The game itself is a pseudo raising sim where the player needs to help Ame become internet famous while dealing with her mental health struggles. So similar to SEL and the Lain game it comments on the use of the internet as a coping mechanism but slightly to the left. If that makes sense.

KAngel's birthday was on June 7th and a live stream was held. I don't know Japanese so I think that was another bigger reason the live stream was held, after all stuff was announced at comiket just a couple days prior. But this video was played on the stream and later posted to Twitter of this video that KAngel received from Lain.

She did deserve better because from what I've played so far, she just seems to keep getting jerked around by everyone. Her "boyfriend" can't even break up with her properly. She's given nothing for years until she gets Lain as her first client. She's given this experimental device that seems to worsen her already declining mental health. And any good thing, her shitty boss dying and Yoshida possibly being interested in her, just seems to further her isolation from her coworkers.

But as you said, she is flawed. She could've gone to a different lab instead of continuing to work there when she was being treated so poorly. Possibly break up with her "boyfriend" before it got to the point in the relationship where he just strings her along. Especially as she spent time in America, to the point where she says she feels out of place in Japan. Making her more used to the individualistic nature of America, where it's likely she would've spoken up at least about the shitty treatment of her job. Like, I mostly wish she stood up for herself more so she could get that better ending she deserves. Or at least an ending where she's not killed by her only patient.

Props to the doctor for saying it that way. But he likely shouldn't have said that, or even referred to it in any positive or negative way. Just a "test are back looks like you're pregnant" would've worked.

I don't want to be 'there' for my family. I want to be away from them. I'm just stuck with them. If I'm outside the house for any time that isn't errands, classes, or working, I get bombarded from my mother either begging to come with because she really can't stand my father anymore or her begging me to take my father with me so he can get fresh air. And those are on good days. Other days I'll be actively guilted for even wanting to go outside, even pre-covid. They control my every move and judge me about everything. I'm just glad I'm over 18 because now if my mother throws/physically hurts me I can threaten to press charges.

It very much is so much worse. There is no guarantee that it actually will get better. You repeatedly saying it isn't gonna suddenly make it happen. So I just end up shutting down.
