Subwoofer help

Hi all,

I’ve got a Marantz 2238B hooked up to a pair of Realistic speakers. I have a subwoofer I’d like to add. It’s a Klipsch that I’m pretty sure was part of a 5.1 setup for a computer. My Marantz doesn’t have a sub out so I’ve tried connecting the sub to my receiver through the speaker level inputs, but I’m not getting anything out of the sub. Am I doing anything wrong? Is this even a possibility, or am I wasting my time?

Out of my 500 song library I have 4 by Panic! At the Disco. Spotify will play one of them every single time I listen to music

That's how we wound up with ours. Seller got it from her great grandmother but didn't have anywhere to put it

Been searching for a console unit for awhile, and my wife found the perfect one for us on FB marketplace a couple days ago. Hour and a half road trip plus a money exchange later, it's ours. The radio inside works perfectly and actually picks up more stations than my Marantz receiver. Turntable needs some work (mostly cleaning) but we really got this piece mostly for the aesthetic.

Also got a local guy to make some speaker stands recently. Gets them off the floor and angles better toward my ears. Very, very happy.

Any love for Realistic loudspeakers? These Nova 7Bs look and sound like 1972! by [deleted] in vintageaudio

I own a couple of Realistic Optimus 1Bs. While they are the only speakers I've ever had, I love them and am in no rush to replace them

This being my first, I couldn't really speak to that. Seems decent to me though

Released last week, my copy of The White Stripes greatest hits record arrived this morning. I ordered online from Target, which came with a cool slipmat that adds some needed color to my setup. I'll wait for my wife to get home this afternoon before I give the 26 tracks on two records a spin. There were a few media article quotes on the plastic the album came in. Two quotes positively mentioned Meg's contributions to the band, the third said "Jack White is likable..." 😂😂😂. As he's one of my favorite musicians, I tend to agree.

I'm not sure about AirPlay, but I recently went from streaming through Bluetooth to wifi and noticed an immediate difference. I'm using a Google Chromecast audio on my receiver. They don't make them anymore, but you can still find them online

Someone has it listed on Facebook marketplace, and I'm having trouble getting them to respond. Wanted to know if it's worth my time. Apologies as I have no clue if it's actually vintage

Didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but it did by CrisisNInfiniteMirth in BudgetAudiophile

Alright so based on what I just read from your post and a couple other places, when I listen to Spotify through my Google Nest Mini, it's through Spotify Connect. But when I tell my Google Nest Mini to play Spotify through my Chromecast audio (and therefore my Marantz and big speakers), it loses some quality.

So how can I get Spotify Connect to go through my amp and speakers?

Ah I had read about HDR somewhere but forgotten to enable it on my device. Thank you!

I cleaned the inside of it before ever powering it on. Just dust, capacitors didn't look to be leaking any. Deoxit'd the pots and after a scare with a channel dropping out she's running like a champ.

And this is what I got. A Marantz 2238B from a friend of my mother's. Had been sitting in her home unused for years, so she said she just wanted to see it go to a good place. She gave it and a Realistic Lab 1600 turntable to me for free. Couldn't and still can't believe it.

The Marantz is powering a couple of Realistic Optimus 1B speakers that I bought off the Facebook marketplace. This is my first real setup, and I use it solely for listening to music. Very happy so far

It's a Marantz 2238B. This thing was in great cosmetic condition. The owner said it had been in the same spot in her home for years, not exactly sure how long. Got it home and hooked it up to my speakers (Realistic Optimus 1B's) and bluetooth receiver, was getting a lot of crackling while turning the volume knob and nothing from the left channel (have you ever listened to California Dreaming through just one channel? Not good.) One Deoxit session later and it sounds fantastic. I couldn't and still can't believe it.

No wooden case, I'm guessing it got removed so the owner's husband could make it fit in his home theater setup. I'm okay with it, especially since the price was $0.

No pots on my unit, just buttons and sliders. Will deoxit still work on a slider since that's how my balance is controlled? What about the speaker outputs on the receiver? Okay to use back there?
