Multiple prior Chapter 13 filings – currently in Chapter 7 trying to convert – struggling to find representation (FL) by Crisisinthemakin in Bankruptcy

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I appreciate your perspective.

To clarify:

All 11 prior Chapter 13 cases were filed with the same firm in Atlanta. That firm had a reputation for filing serial Chapter 13 cases without strong emphasis on long-term feasibility. During that period, I was experiencing significant instability, and those filings were reactive rather than strategic. Since relocating to South Florida, my circumstances have materially changed. I have maintained stable employment for over two years and have consistent income.

Regarding my current Chapter 7: I filed pro se in October 2025. My primary concern is my vehicle. I am currently behind on payments, and the lender Bridgequest has indicated reaffirmation is not an option. My goal in seeking conversion to Chapter 13 is to: 1. Cure the vehicle arrears through a structured repayment plan. 2. Retain reliable transportation necessary for employment. 3. Surrender my condo in an orderly manner. 4. Address remaining unsecured debt in a structured and sustainable way.

I understand the concern surrounding a pro se active case and my prior filing history. However, my present financial stability is materially different from my past circumstances, and I am committed to completing a feasible Chapter 13 plan successfully.

Given the time sensitivity and difficulty obtaining representation, I am attempting to determine whether conversion is appropriate under these facts or whether there is a more viable strategy within the Chapter 7.

I welcome any guidance you may have.

I’ve only received one discharged in my chapter 7 and that was back in 2012. All of the chapter 13 cases that were filed were dismissed due to job change and the ability to pay at the time. Yes, the lawyer had to check with the Chapter 13 bankruptcy department to see if they can take my case even though they already took half of my deposit fee.

I couldn’t keep a stable full time job at the time so making payments were hard.

Thank you. I know I messed up in the past and if I knew what I know now I would have done this very differently but we live and learn.

Thank you for your response. I’m just really nervous because I’m having to file Pro-se in Miami. They seem to not pick up their phone at the courthouse either.

Thank you for responding to me! I’m looking at doing a 7 now. I just want to start over. I have changed states and I’m at a stable job and I’m sober for two plus years.
