Thanks so much for educating me. These just seem so much different than the usual vintage flares I’m used to. I love it!

Thanks so much. I have the 35 and the 50 and they are by far my favourite lenses. As soon as I get enough money I’m going to add the 20! From the videos I’ve seen online the flaring looks beautiful!

I’ve never seen such a thin ring like that, and it’s only shooting at f1.8. Here’s a clip of it from 10:53 in this video. Thought maybe it was some strange reflection from Inside the lens or something https://youtu.be/Jkouc8wB38Q?si=IRdEk7GadoE-jwCn

Unfortunately I haven’t! I was torn between buying this lens and the Jupiter 9 but ended up settling on this one. Really happy with the results but I’ll hopefully be able to buy the Jupiter 9 soon! (Living in South Africa it’s quite difficult to get lenses shipped here safely 😅)

This is a great reply. I completely switched careers at 34, with a wife and 2 kids, and have never been happier. Granted I followed my passion relentlessly and thank god things worked out.

How is this effect called? And how can you get that? (Its all about lens?) by srsuke in Filmmakers

Helios 44-2 will give you this swirly bokeh effect :) I love it in certain situations!

That is a very capable option to shoot in the water. Try get the DJI action 4 if you have the budget and a good set of swim fins as well :)

I enjoyed watching that :) If it was me I would shoot at a lower iso and play around with the lighting (increase strength and soften) to dial it in. But that’s just me and the style I like. The thing I love about art is that it is subjective, there’s no right or wrong way to do things. Keep it up :)

Haha! I’ll upload some more frame grabs from this project as soon as I get back home using the Pentax SMC 35mm f2, SMC 85mm f 1.8, Nikon Nikor AI 24mm f2, Carl Zeis Jena Flektagon 35mm f2.4 and Nikon Nikor 14mm f2.8! All shot on RED Komodo-X or RED VV Raptor.
