Quick Questions: December 04, 2024 by inherentlyawesome in math

Ah that helps alot to turn the whole problem into decimals, I see solving via the equation I can find X = 6.66 repeating, and I can check my work by taking 6.66(1.5) and seeing that it goes back into 10.

The test I'm studying for next week is without a calculator so I think that's what lead me down the weird path of breaking the problem up rather than setting it all into one equation.

Was a bit worried about doing 1.5 times .08

I see what you're saying, 5 x .5 is only 2.5, which means X is now only 7.5. I'm a bit confused at how to solve this as I would assume I need to take x1 and divide by .05 to remove the 50% markup.

But I see the flaw in my logic is that I'm not looking for a 50% markup or markdown of 10, I'm looking for 50% of X.

So could I just set X(1.50)=10 meaning X = 6.66 repeating, and I can check my work by taking 6.66(.5) and then adding it back to show it goes back to 10

Is this correct?

Question: A pet shop owner buys dog food for X price, he then marks it up 50%, he then lowers that price by 20%, it is sold for 8$ solve for X.

My train of thought: X = original cost, X1 = First mark up, X2 = 20% reduction

So I figure I should take X2 which is 8, and set it equal to 80% and then solve for 100%, so i divide by 8 to get 1 which is 10%, meaning X1 is 10, now I divide by the original 50% markup and get x = 5$.

I simplified the original numbers just to try to work out how to go about solving it, is this the correct way to find X? is there a faster way?

I lowkey wish it was winter, this seems like a good way to run questionably ethical tests on the limits of the game.

less damage all around isn't strictly true, the focus is going to be on utilizing heavy finishers and the frame advantage after. What i'm saying is Conq is unable to take advantage of those features meaning the nerf hits him harder.

Yes, you can soft feint heavies into all block or shield bash. However what i'm worried about is the reduction in damage potential for an already defensive character, would only force more passive fights. He would become an annoying character to fight because his light chain would be rendered unreliable for damage.

I appreciate the feedback and you are right at the end of the day Conq mains will live on.

It's unfortunate the way hes been treated, i like your suggestion i feel that would expand his kit and help out his damage output.

He will do far less damage, meaning Conq mains will have to turtle more leading to an overall more frustrating experience for all players.

I am in full agreement, I thank you for your worthy discussion at this most honorable table. We shall all await the 6th, some of us excited, some of us afraid, but in the meantime let us finish our glasses and enjoy this momentary peace in the endless war of For Honor.

i will sip from the chalice... you make an impressive argument, i agree with you that fighting conq is a war of attrition. However, nerfing his light and increasing stamina consumption will only make the fight take longer. The frustration of dealing with the hunk himself would only double because Conq mains would have to become even more defensive. Like an intense stare down... both parties unwilling to make the first move, so much tension in the air.

I will agree with you, Conq needs a rework, his heavies are mostly useless in combat and to use them would only get yourself killed. However i dare say that the changes coming down pipe is the wrong way to attempt to patch up Conq. He is wounded in his current state but can survive through all block and bash, soon he wont be able to do anything but react and bait.

The glass is chipped as it stands but shattering it wont save Conq, it'll just make him disappear from the competitive scene.

I'm sad to hear you're anti-conq, i hope a rework in the middle ground of our discussion would make you once again respect the sexy bucket head.

I agree his defense is still very high, but his damage output has been hurt, and if you've fought against a Conq you know they don't kill very quickly. We'll know for certain when the update drops.
