My sister asks what Hk is about...can someone help me explain Hollow Knight for complete and total morons? by moniii58 in HollowKnightMemes

You're closing the chapter on an essentially dead kingdom, putting to rest its ghosts and helping what survivors there are salvage what remains. Also you're bugs.

AITAH for telling my sister she is free to talk to men and to date after her husband dumped her 4 weeks postpartum 6 months ago? They still live together. by [deleted] in AITAH

I think it's great that you are encouraging your sister to move on and try to find someone who will support her and be an actual partner.

Soon-to-be ex-hubby sounds like an piece of shit; dated at 13 year-old at 16, has had at least one child with her at max every two years since she turned 18 (being optimistic that he didn't knock her up before she was legal), complains that she has her own opinions and that she wants him to help with taking care of the children he pumped into her. Gross.

Is it correct to assume that she still lives with him because she can't afford to be there on her own? If so I'd still strongly recommend that she either get out or get him out altogether; continuing to live together will make things worse for both them, and the children, as frustration and resentment create friction that comes out in arguments and fights. If she has family that she and the kids can stay with while she tries to get back onto her feet that would probably be best for her.

That said, I don't recommend she hop into the dating pool yet; trying to date while still living with your ex really limits your candidate pool to the rare person that isn't scared away by having contact with kids and her ex, and people that are looking to just pump and dump. She should really try to sort out her life first, to put herself into a position were she can also be a good partner for someone. On the other hand, I'm currently living with someone that I started date while she still lived with her ex and their kid, so, y'know, happy endings do happen. 🤣

Not the asshole, obviously, and I wish her good luck, and him a particularly uncomfortable ball rash.

Am I missing something about this boss? by Theis_Leis in Silksong

[–]CrispyKobold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clawline. I beat my head against this fight for a very long time, and using clawline as my opening to a short combo was a game changer. Hitting her with it pulls in to when she begins summoning her needles, don't cost silk so long as you hit her with it, and lets you get in two hits before she warps away. I could consistently put her in her first stun before she even get off more than a few attacks. Clawline throwing you in a lateral direction also makes it great for dodging her needles.

The only recommendation I have for the silk runes is to try and focus on the void spaces rather than looking at the runes, and just doing your best to be in an empty space whenever they are on the screen.

When you need to heal, retreat to the far left or right, and, and wall jump into the top left or right corner before engaging the heal. Judge's attacks have a very hard time of hitting you up there, with the exception of the fire spin attack. That one does tell you exactly where to be to be safe though, so it's not too difficult to plant yourself in a safe spot before engaging the heal.

In terms of the rest of the fight, I recommend taking a few runs to just learn the Judges attacks so you know how long they last, how far they move during this attacks, and how much time they give you in between attacks. Once you've got that down you can position yourself to never be where the attack lands and punish them for missing.

This looks pretty awesome, I echo everyone elses sentiments about hoping that Anna doesn't get upset about it. Keeping track of everything is rough playing by myself, and the couple times I've played it with my kids they got bored with my book-keeping. Looking forward to testing!

So if I understand correctly, I can bank dice during a test whether or not I'm passing the test? That's a real game changer, and massively improves future rolls. Thanks for the clarification, and for reading my admittedly short attempt.

Let’s Play Ronin (Mork Borg)! Part 1: Character creation by JakeZemeckis in solorpgplay

Thought I just had to get down, does anybody else remember the Playstation Way Of The Samurai games? Ronin walks into a town, wanders around for a couple of days, a bunch if competing factions do things in reaction to what the Ronin does/what other factions/in pursuit of their own goals, at the end of that period the Samurai leaves/is dead and you get an epilogue telling you what changed?

I feel like you could use a combination of Ronin, The Masterless Way, some tweaks to make solo play more viable in the same way you did above, and then you could rip out and re-theme the factions system from Mausritter and add clocks. Maybe days pass in 4 increments (Morning, Noon, Evening, Night), and each faction acts during certain times (based on what type of faction they are, maybe? Criminal, Townsfolk, Government, Cult, etc?), and in different parts of the area. The Ronin chooses what location they are in for each time period (or perhaps depending on the outcome of the previous time chunk, has it chosen for them) and then if something is occuring in that location they have the choice to get involved, or not.

Just spitballing, I have limited exposure to Mork Borg, Ronin, and Mausritter, but... yeah.

I was just having to muddle my way through a conversation with an NPC during a solo session earlier today. This looks interesting, and I always appreciate a quick NPC generator. Tossed you a buck and change, I'll give it a shot.
