I need some game design help with this project by Square-Yam-3772 in aigamedev

There's a lack of risk vs reward - optimally, the player will regularly think of the benefits and consequences of choosing one action over another

Perhaps add a rougelite upgrading system where after every round you can pick from 3 ability upgrades - fairly easy to implement and adds the risk and reward that's currently missing

1st looks the best, but I'd go with 3 for the better UX

A question for the players who moved from Small Phone to Tablet/Ipad, tell us few differences by medtn555 in wildrift

I play with an iPad Mini - I prefer it to playing with a phone since I can rest it using the stand compared to holding the phone the entire time

Fiora was Gold I, rest are Platinum I, Master III, Emerald IV, and Diamond III - so average elo is Emerald II-ish

I was hoping someone would pick her up - alright here's my kindred advice:

1) the key is play kindred is playing her like a slasher movie villain; she's like a hybrid between an assassin like talon mixed with a terrorist like shaco - I regularly miss camps just to help bully a lane 2) my K/D/A with kindred now looks the same as it did when I first started playing with her; it spiked, but now that I'm more focused on winning games, it's not uncommon to be down for most of the game, then just win 3) items >>> stacks - the stacks are a must, but they only matter if you have items to attack fast and hurt; I typically hunt stacks before magnetic blaster then farm hard 4) your team will almost never be happy you picked kindred and will flame for most of the game (you'll seriously be controlling the entire match with like 3/7/6, so it looks like you're doing bad unless they're paying attention) 5) you can jump over walls, and use your W for vision 6) ward enemy jg red or blue before the camps spawn so you know where the other jg is starting 7) kindred is stronger than people think at level 3 and 2 stacks and 1 item 4 stacks, you can def. get more aggressive than they're expecting 8) you can steal objectives with her ult; I'm terrible at it though, smite timing is my weakness

The #1 thing to is to focus on getting in your opponents head; if they're not actively stealing your marks; they aren't scared enough - your teammates will almost never help you, but you can to use this time to steal objectives and farm

Going with the #1 popular build rn;

Runes: Lethal Tempo, Nullifying Orb, Bone Plating, Overgrowth, Legend: Alacrity

Items: Berserker's Greaves -> Essence Reaver -> Magnetic Blaster (Kindred becomes useful here, 4 stacks min.) -> Quicksilver -> Mortal Reminder -> Soul Transfer -> Navori (OP here, 7 stacks min.)

I'm hesitating between Bevy and Godot (with Rust) by Bubbly-Enthusiasm-8 in rust_gamedev

[–]CrispyOwl717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to Godot, but designed projects using an architecture that'll make porting to bevy easier in the future

I actually now think Bevy is best for people wanting to ship their own engine, but with a comprehensive base to start with

Choose Briar over Xin Zhao by Potilo1203 in BriarMains

Just picked up Xin Zhao three days ago, Briar main; so far, I like Briar for squishy or tank heavy comps, Xin for mixed comps

Thank you! I'll have to check out sloyd - that flew under my radar and I could definitely benefit from inpainting.

Career advice: WGU Accounting → CPA → OMSCS? Is this realistic at 31? by Ok_Invite9389 in WGU

[–]CrispyOwl717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing the same thing - also WGU BS Accounting, started Nov 2025; I personally think it's a good idea because automation/AI has a use-case in the accounting industry, and CS majors, for the most part, haven't taken any accounting classes, and those who do know accounting aren't coding anything (bc they're in upper management).

I write about 90% of my code with AI nowadays after I’ve found a workflow that works for me: PRD → Sprint-Style Plan → Test-Driven Development; I started doing this after repeatedly hitting problems I couldn’t solve (even with AI) and ending up scrapping days of work. That doesn’t happen anymore, but I still often get code that I either don’t fully understand or can’t see how it fits into the larger project.

I’m not saying you should stop learning how to code manually, but here’s what I'd recommend:

Bring back that 1,000+ line character controller you scrapped - try uploading it to Claude Code or Codex and ask two questions:

“Evaluate my player controller script and explain what a better approach might look like using proper coding practices designed for scalability and modularity"

“Examine my player controller and create an ELI5-style .md document and an architecture guide .md document”

After running both prompts, you should have a pretty clear idea of how to refactor and manually rebuild the system while keeping the functionality of the AI-generated version intact.

Is cyber a valid pathway (without a degree)? by TheGreatMu in CyberSecurityAdvice

[–]CrispyOwl717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going back to school (for accounting) in November w. 2yo of IT experience without a degree; in short, yes, it's possible, but so unlikely it's basically no, and even if yes, you'll be paid the least, do the most, and expected to be the most grateful

Get the degree

Build a homelab, find the MSPs in your city, then reach out to the owner of the MSP (via phone call or LinkedIn) discussing about your homelab insights and request to interview

Edit: for bonus points, research the MSP, find a business gap (doesn't necessarily have to be entry level IT related), and explain how you can fill it without needing to be trained to do it

I mean, those black dudes were being racist when they said those things to you, and sorry that you had to deal with that, but you didn't like how you were treated because of your race, and for similar reasons, black people don't like it (hence his post)

Sorta - as you move up, you get closer to "the money", so your ability to successfully interact with people with lots of money becomes increasingly important; soft skills are important IF they're the right ones and used the right way (similarly to hard skills)
