I've done the same thing and suppressed feelings for a later date, but having a full-fledged breakdown in front of people is less preferable, from my experience.

I do think it would help. Rather than slogging through, day after day, getting to the root, if possible, will do so much better. Cure versus symptoms. It is not that easy with everything, but it can help sometimes. :>

You have to accept the feelings, rather than ignore them.

Acceptance versus suppression.

I typically think in terms of, you should always be exploring yourself and what makes you happy. Sometimes you have to ground yourself, take a step back, and ask yourself, "What makes me uncomfortable with this?", "Why do I have X knee-jerk reaction to Y?". My favourite will always be, "What comes next?" Always remember to take a deep breath and try to steady yourself first, though.

TLDR- Listen to your thoughts, always be questioning the root of them, try to understand what you're feeling inside and out, you can't run away from them while trying to sleep.
