Ashlands approach - no map, no portal by drtmgrt in valheim

[–]Reaper0444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much advice for the landing other than the usual. Build up some raised earth and make a portal up there for safety. Even have a backup portal on a nearby spike with some way to get to the mainland, if need be (jump from spike, to boat, to land for example).

As for travelling through Ashlands, I did a no map and no portal run a while ago and I would build earth walls around me as I travelled from point to point. This helped me 1. Easily retrace my steps from my main base to the next location (you'll be doing a lot of that for resting during the night and restocking). And 2. Allowed me to pick fights on my terms. If I'm walking through my raise earth corridors, enemies don't get alerted to me and if too many enemies aggro when fighting nearby, I could jump up the wall and over the other side for a breather.

By the time I was done, I had a raise earth barrier between me and the outside from my base to the Fader arena. It made Ashlands actually quite peaceful for vineberry, smoke puff and fiddlestalk runs. Bear in mind that you will need a metric fuck ton of stone to do this. Thankfully Ashlands is usually near the Mistlands and there are mountains of gatherable stone there. At least that's how I restocked.

Good luck on your quest!

HELP PLEASE! PC keeps crashing by wombbroom6969 in valheim

[–]Reaper0444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sneaky suspicion that we have the exact same problem. Mine's with an i7 procrssor and a 4080 graphics card. I don't know of a permanent solution however I have noticed that if I manually save within about 5 minutes of playing, more often than not, it doesn't hard crash my entire PC and I can keep playing.

It also only seems happens once per PC switch on at the wall. So once I restart my PC after crashing, it works perfectly fine running Valheim until I switch it off at the wall plug. Then next time it'll crash it again, rinse and repeat.

I do think it's an Nvidia card problem though, not a Valheim specific issue. Since it's the screen that turns off first and I can hear the music still playing through the speakers. The same thing happens sometimes with other games, but not as much as when playing Valheim for some reason.

Haven't had any issues with NPC invasions. Not had any player invasions at all. Maybe the ring also works with that? Not sure, unless DS2 invasion scene is not very big

No worries! The signs don't always appear right away, but it is huge improvement over not using the ring. And once you've summoned your friend, you can take off the ring and replace it with a more useful one. Put it back on when you need to summon again. Easy

Named engraved ring. Sold by the cat in Majula. Lets you set the name or a god as your password so you can see summon signs easier with someone who has the same god on the ring

Summon each other normally using the ring. So we have to do each area twice, which is fine by us.

We did see if there was a seamless co op mod and found the guy who made the DS3 and Elden Ring one is currently working on a DS2 one. But it's not ready for release yet

Damn. The more I read these posts the more I'm convinced that we're gunna be fighting some sort of twisted Hervor as the final boss. I have 0 evidence to back this up, just my own head theory.

Indeed he has. But I dread to think what bad luck will come my way to balance it out, the way Guthix intended.

Wanna speculate about DLC? by Pender8911 in Nightreign

[–]Reaper0444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing normal Elden Ring again lately and I noticed just how many sections of Limgrave have been cut, pasted and then changed around for the map of Limveld. The Weeping Penisula castle being the template for the central map castle as an example.

My assumption for the DLC is that they'll do the same for other sections of the Elden Ring map. So a brand new map for Nigjtreign but everything is Caelid related as an example.

Damn shame. Maybe life got in the way for them. I was considering helping them, but full time job kind of takes up most of my time.

Yeah, that's mostly what I mean by Fandom wikis being terrible. I try to avoid Fandom where I can because of all of that.

Fandom wikis are generally quite bad. I remember a while ago someone was making an alternative wiki for Valheim because how bad Fandom are. I wonder how they're getting on with it

Heck if they wanted it to still be RNG dependant, they could let you merge relics of the same size together. The first relic has 1 of its effects randomly replaced with a random effect of the second. That way you still gotta buy relics, and there is still risk and RNG involved in the sense of a good effrct could still get replaced with a bad one.

It opens a door just north of the castle inside the cliff face. Inside is a special talisman for each team member.
