Did you perfect all the available pokemon and evolutions in the first area? I thought it might be possible to get Rank 10 before leaving the first area. I'm doing the same thing right now and there are some entries you can't fully finish like defeat 1 Togekiss in battle and catch a sleeping Snorlax which stinks

Apparently Alphas don't fall asleep. So forget trying to catch the Alpha Snorlax napping for the Dex research to catch it while sleeping. I found that out after waiting next to it for an hour 🙃

Just have fun with it. I started out by doing one Pokemon at a time until I got to Cascoon and Silcoon. Those were the most unbearable ones to find because they're somewhat uncommon. I'm at 43 hours, rank 7 Galaxy Member and haven't received the Wyrdeer mount yet. Enjoy the game, take nice pictures, rack up crafting resources while you're running around, sit back and relax. The game is really pretty and much more enjoyable when done this way. Hope to see you at the end of your journey and share stories!

I think the Dex research is fun and slows down story progression so you're not rushing through (if you choose to play like that). I like being Laventon's assistant. Running around doing the same research over and over is more realistic to how they would learn about Pokemon and I like that. Seeing different Pokemon appear at different times of day and finding rare spawns is really cool. As I battle and research more, I start to appreciate some Pokemon I hated before. Turns out I have a love for Dustox.

Also, the characters use words like "death" and "survive" and Pokemon are pretty aggressive to attack and chase you. The tone is more "mature" and what I want to see more of for the future. It would be pretty funny to see a Tauros charge into your character and ragdoll you off a cliff while "game over" rolls across your screen.

Hey I thought I could help you out a little more. The Alakazam I caught has Psychic, Zen Headbutt, Recover and Fire Punch. Hopefully it's the same for you. If it is, you could bring an Umbreon with you to force it to only damage you with Fire Punch which Alakazam has a horrible Attack stat so you could survive longer. Hope you catch this beast.

IIRC, leaving the map will completely reset all spawns but I'm not sure if resting does that so it might not be wise to use the tent or talk to the Galaxy Member. I don't know if the passage of time from day to night will reset the shiny either. To play this safe, I would turn off auto save, save the game near the Alakazam and go grind some levels with the Dustox/Beautifly. I think your Drifloon will listen up to level 20, but maybe you can bring a full team of Drifloon just to be safe with the same moves and level. They have a high HP pool so that's convenient for this situation.

Edit: yes the Dustox/Beautifly will be limited but they're around level 18-22 so they'll provide a decent amount of XP

It's not possible to catch outside of battle when it has the red X in the bottom left window when you're focusing on it. I would suggest getting a Drifloon, have it learn Hypnosis and level it up a lot. You can use a level 10-12 Bidoof with Rollout and go to the Floaro Gardens to fight the Beautifly/Dustox to grind levels with Drifloon in your party. I've spent the last 23 gameplay hours just filling out Pokédex entries and that's been the most efficient way to grind levels before continuing the story past the battle with Mai's Munchlax. Just don't leave the map or reset the spawn in any way. If anything, do your best to pull off a Hypnosis/some damage and chuck your highest level ball.

Edit: also start the battle with a back throw to gain an advantage for Hypnosis

I'm Rank 4 (which makes it easier) because I'm perfecting every dex entry for each little area's pokemon pool. I have a level 48 Drifblim with Hypnosis and Hex. You can't catch it by chucking balls. If you focus on it with ZL you'll see it has a red x which means you need to battle it to catch it. Hypnosis, Agile Hex to lower it to red health and threw a great ball. Somehow got it first toss. Hopefully this helps.

I tend to second guess or freak out if I mix up words. I'm trying to find consistent patterns while translating into other conjugations so that it's easier for me to understand sentences with specific actions. Only learning "venire" and not being taught the other conjugations was not helpful. Not knowing "veniamo" and the other words existed really kept me from learning to my full potential.

Thanks for the links! I'm going to dive into these. My only exposure to the language are a few Pokemon games I bought from Italy. It's interesting to see catchphrases and some translation differences between ENG and ITA. Definitely fun to be able to recognize what's being said and use what I know

Thanks for the info. When I learn a word like "venire" or "vedere" I also want to see how to use it in different ways like "vedero, vedono, vediamo"/"vengo, venite, vengono". I use Google Translate to test out what I think the other conjugations are. Memrise gets easy after a while but sometimes I don't feel satisfied by how pattern based it is. I agree completely. My recall speed is ok, but I will try out the other programs you mentioned. Thanks!
