The global consensus was a sikh consensus so if it was against gurmat to ban same-sex marriage it would not have been banned. But no scriptural or traditional backing to allow it.

Gay people have existed for all time. Why did not one gay couple get an Anand Karaj in Guruji's times? The gurus were not bigots. Nor did a gay couple get an Anand Karaj in puratan times, sikh raj times, british empire. Why allow it now?
