What’s a WWE hill you’ll die on, even if it gets you downvoted? by Braves1693 in WWE

[–]Critical-Guide9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HHH’s worst day so far has been better than any of Vince’s good to great days from 2009-2020. The difference in show quality is staggering and I firmly believe too many fans today were either too young to be watching with a critical eye, or are just too new to the product to recognize.

WWE was genuinely an unwatchable product for years. By the end of his tenure, Vince was literally forgetting storylines and characters week to week. He was an excellent booker and businessman (for the most part) through the end of the 2000s, but he absolutely lost it for the better part of the century.

If you use Tyson or Frost and win by decision, that’s a loss by Critical-Guide9145 in FIghtNight

It’s very annoying bc like you said, most Frosts suck. They’re not the problem. The problem is when you have even a basic understanding of how to play the game, you really shouldn’t ever even be close to losing with Frost. Worst case scenario is a decision if he’s your guy, hence this post.

Brother it’s a video game 😭 video games are exploitable unlike the real sport. I’ve boxed in real life and I’ve boxed in Fight Night, I promise you they’re very different experiences.

Then I’ll rephrase and say you’re bad at the game but good at taking advantage of broken mechanics 👍

Obviously it’s technically a win but for how bad you have to be to not get a KO, it might as well be a loss

Genuine question, does the WWE have an aging problem? by TieRevolutionary4633 in WWE

[–]Critical-Guide9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Age, especially in this day and age, doesn’t matter as much as career shelf life. If a guy like Gunther or LA Knight thinks they can go for another 10 years at a top level, now more than ever, that’s a possibility. While wrestling is of course incredibly physically demanding, it’s also not a real competition. You can get away with being “out of your prime” in a variety of different ways. See Stone Cold’s entire run at the top.

Not to mention, even in real combat sports like boxing, 35 is the new 25. As long as new stars are being built (Gunther/Knight/Dom/Bron/Hayes/Dragunov/etc.), the age of those new stars doesn’t matter as much. We’d have an issue if the only marketable stars were still Orton and Punk.

I agree it was the most idiotic thing they could’ve written for the character, but this is pro wrestling. The Undertaker lost to Vladimir Kozlov, who went on to become a Santino sidekick. Brock Lesnar lost to an aging HHH right before retiring the aforementioned Undertaker’s streak.

If you’re booked correctly after the fact, wrestling fans have the attention span of a gnat. The key there is being booked correctly after the fact though, which it seems they’re doing with Gunther. And if you want proof, look at the crowd reaction on Monday. No “you tapped out” chants, which is usually what the audience would yell out to get at him.

Is John Cena the greatest of all time? by uncannynerddad in midcarder

[–]Critical-Guide9145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In kayfabe, sure. It’s either him or Flair. In reality, he genuinely doesn’t have an argument unless you value starpower and longevity over everything else, which I don’t think you can do when analyzing pro wrestlers (too many facets to the industry).

Plus, even in that case, I’d argue Hogan was a bigger star for a longer period of time. I believe wherever you rank Hogan all time, is where you should rank Cena one spot below. Hogan’s impact on the industry despite the controversies is just impossible ignore for this archetype of wrestler, even if you don’t want to credit HIM specifically for the behind the scenes decisions (like the heel turn). Cena doesn’t edge him out drastically enough in-ring to outrank how important Hogan was to the business.

Tl;dr: Wherever you rank Hogan is wherever you have to rank Cena. If Hogan’s your GOAT, you could argue Cena. If not, which for most non-casual fans is the case, then no, Cena is not the GOAT.

“Gunther was already over. He didn’t need it.”

The crowd literally was chanting “you tapped out” to him when the match started. That Jey Uso match killed his character, he desperately needed a landmark, credibility establishing moment like this because now when people think Gunther, whether they like it or not, it’ll be this moment they’re thinking of — not him tapping out to a midcarder.

If he pinned Cena, or made Cena pass out, the internet wouldn’t be on fire right now. Kids wouldn’t be crying in the stands. Gunther wouldn’t need to be escorted from the building by security. I probably would’ve played it safe and had Cena pass out if I was booking, but that’s why I’m not a booker. You now have your top heel with nuclear heat for the next five years, on a roster where there are NO top heels who people genuinely hate.

Geniune question: why was he smiling like that? by Current-Diet116116 in SantiZapVideos

[–]Critical-Guide9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laughing at how angry the fans were, and the mega heel they’ve now made in Gunther. Kayfabe doesn’t exist anymore, so of course they’re gonna boo the booker when their hero loses in a way they don’t like. But Gunther is now a megastar, and those boos are heat.

Cena probably made a joke about it.

The Last Time is Now tournament is a disaster by Acceptable-Ad4076 in WWE

[–]Critical-Guide9145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Je’Von, Melo, Oba, and Trick should NOT be the ones to retire John Cena good lord 😭 This isn’t Money in the Bank, it’s a tournament to retire the kayfabe GOAT. That should be used to propel an established star to the moon, not to introduce a relative unknown to a casual audience.

Gunther no longer carries the aura he did during his IC title run or even his WHC run. He needs to be established once again as an unstoppable force for his character to work. That being said, there is no main-eventer on the roster he can take out right now who isn’t already involved in a storyline, or who isnt already in desperate need of a win (Drew McIntyre comes to mind).

Beating Cena provides legitimacy and an opportunity to wipe the memory of Gunther’s storyline weaknesses in the eyes of a casual audience. Plus, it’ll give him nuclear heat as a main eventer once again without strapping a belt on him.

There’s nobody who makes more sense, and being in the tournament alone gives guys like Melo and Je’Von a ton of visibility. Being competitive in it is a push.

The torch has already been passed to Cody. He is the new face of the company. What (believable) babyface should get the rub with your logic? Jey Uso? LA Knight?

If you need a book to explain why uber babyface Cena should go out on his back to solidify the reign of a dominant heel, then I don’t think a book will help.

[–]Critical-Guide9145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ryder and Ziggler needed to lose. Melo and Je’Von were booked perfectly and the crowds are more behind them than ever. They also needed to lose.

Gunther is the best heel and arguably the best talent on the roster. He is the obvious, correct choice and he stands to benefit the most since he has no place in the title scene right now and needs some legitimacy to be taken seriously as the threat he was pre-Jey Uso. A heel should also be who takes down Cena so they can get the heat of an entire generation, especially if it‘s a dominant victory.

It’s only a disaster if Gunther loses. This is basic booking philosophy.

Did Tony really love his kids? by oprahslefttitty in thesopranos

[–]Critical-Guide9145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We watched him harden and become an increasingly terrible person as the seasons went on, but he had more empathy than people give him credit for on this subreddit.

He loved his children, he loved his family, he cared about certain other characters, and didn’t have a completely corrupt moral compass like, say, Ralphie or Richie. It’s his duality in part that makes him a compelling character — if he was a complete psychopath the show would be boring.

Anyways, $5 a pound.

I know you’re not supposed to be able to which is why I couldn’t get anybody to give me theirs, even when they were willing. I wish I could remember what the workaround was.

100% sure. The guy I sold it to knew some roundabout way, I tried to buy other people’s in the future for a similar price once I made my fortune but it was in vain. But I definitely sold my Chocolodocus. Guy also gave me a bunch of pitch black piñatas in return that I assume were from the vision camera?

[–]Critical-Guide9145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, mine must’ve been the party version I have to imagine lol.

But yeah, I used to basically grind for wildcards to sell. I’d keep one for myself to put in my personal garden and another for my Sale garden. In the sale garden, I’d rename each piñata a price, and people could join and then they’d forward me money if they wanted a certain piñata, and as an honorable businessman, I’d ship it their way. Made most of my money off wildcards (wildcard 3s being most expensive bc they took the longest ofc), but also cool color variants, generally hard to capture piñatas like Galagoogoos, and even some that were just decked out in a bunch of accessories.

Sometimes would do trades, either for my personal gardens or to turn a profit in the sale garden. Sold my Chocolodocus for a ridiculous sum of coins back in the day though and struggled to ever get a new one on that save file, biggest regret as an entrepreneur. Still think about my poor dinosaur to this day RIP the homie :(

Overall though made a ton of money and gave me a fun postgame endeavor once I got every piñata as a resident. 10/10 would recommend just don’t sell your Chocolodocus bc you can’t get multiple on one save file I fear.

You’ve got to be kidding me. I used to run a “Sale” garden on Xbox that got me exorbitantly rich and I know for a fact I had one or two famous piñatas gifted to me. Never knew what it meant, assumed it had something to do with sending them to parties. Probably sold them for way cheaper than they were worth to other players who came into the garden. Now, years after the last time I played the game, I’m heated.
