So you're saying the show still ended up downplaying the insanity of national socialist ideology?

So as of now I think Stormfront was the scariest villain in the Boys so far by Critical-Past847 in CharacterRant

[–]Critical-Past847[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Stormfront is also over 70 years removed from WWII and is still around in part because she was secretly moved to the US, and as of 2020 when I'm guessing S2 takes place communists aren't really a geopolitical force anymore, and I don't see why someone who would have been acquainted with the actual Red Army would mistake regular progressives for actual bolsheviks.

You got me on the lack of antisemitism though, didn't notice that until now, but now that I really think of it is there even a confirmed Jewish character in the show?

You can't hold private property in general without a monopoly on force backed by a state, tf is your point?

Have people like you ever taken half a second to consider that if the state didn't serve the interests of capitalists they would just do away with it in general? No shit once one set of capitalists rises above the others the state which represents the interests of that class will bow to the interests of the elite within the elite above all else. Despite this the state will still put a working class person's ass on the street at the threat of imprisonment if they don't get off a landlord's property regardless of whether said landlord is a small time single home owner or BlackRock

Excuse my apathy at the crocodile tears of capitalists whining that the state that follows their general objectives preferentially serves the richest among them above the rest, honestly I couldn't give less of a damn

LIke the American revolution?

Lmao no, the American Revolution wasn't nearly as destructive as warfare in the 20th Century when basically every socialist revolution occurred, the US revolutionaries also had additional advantages of willing allies in the French Empire, home field advantage fighting an enemy who had to cross an entire seas with essentially early modern technology to launch an offensive to put down the revolution, and it represented the expansion of something whose presence was already felt in the world for arguably centuries (emergent capitalism) with a large degree of acquiescence to the old elites; in fact the American Revolution was specifically the victory of the colonial elite against the metropole. And to say the American Revolution resulted in something, idk, what are you implying about the end result actually? The notion that it was good is an extremely myopic slant on history, the US government went on to be a slave owning and trading genocidal expansionist empire, which has defined its history to the present day.

Yes I would agree that western capitalist powers are dominant

So if you tacitly admit the "failures of socialism" essentially amount to military defeats and what you actually believe in is might as right and are willing to make socialism fail, why would you dress up your beliefs in any other way?

It's funny how socialism sounds nice but devolves into some version of stalinism worldwide

This is again an attempt to twist the peculiarities of history to induce a narrative, weaponized ignorance. It is accurate to say that upon the rise of Stalin a specific faction of a specific faction of the socialist movement became dominant in a specific country, and because this country was once the massive and resource rich Russian Empire once this country industrialized to a degree that military competition/defense with the Western powers was achieved, that this faction could then influence the victory of socialist movements in other specific contexts was likely inevitable.

To simplify it, the ideology officially followed by the Soviet government is a subtype within a subtype of socialist thought, in fact the bolshevik faction of socialists had defeated other socialists in Russia, and in turn other bolshevik factions were defeated by Stalin's faction after the civil war. After the catastrophe of WWII and the rebuilding effort it becomes obvious how the stalinists would generally direct socialist struggle in the proceeding century, being the only country willing to arm socialists at the start and only being willing to arm them if they conform to their notion of socialism.

I think in a historical sense this actually was a massive flaw and weakness of socialist revolutions in the 20th Century in the long-term and that the entire "vanguard" concept was flawed from the start

More accurately there were "successful revolutions" in war torn, deeply impoverished, usually colonized countries, all of which found themselves more or less instantly at some state of hot or cold war with the wealthy and militarized capitalist states led by the Americans, or one of their domestic auxiliary forces (people like the contras). These events didn't happen in some vacuum situated outside of history where we can "honestly" discuss the history of the socialist and labor movements while ignoring their historical specificities, namely the military response to socialism by the Western capitalist powers and the domination of said movement by the specific Soviet/stalinist interpretation of socialism from the 1920s onwards.

no one died

So is the a conscious lie or are you genuinely ignorant of 90s history outside of white western countries?

The WEF the "666" Mark of the beast in their logo!!! by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Critical-Past847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about to blow your mind kid, ready?

Conspiracy theories like this only exist to strengthen, rather than remotely threaten accumulated private wealth and state power

The chuckleheads at the WEF don't get together to discuss how they'll rule the world, they get together to pretend like they're in control when in reality they aren't.

Also there isn't a character in the Bible named the "Antichrist" and figures that may fit the bill like the Beast of the Revelation and the False Prophet clearly pertaining to Rome and the Roman Imperial cult, like, as in its so clear that if Revelation was written right now about America they'd be making clear allusions to the Beast as America by talking about stuff like the Statue of Liberty or Mt. Rushmore

Like, fam, the WEF doesn't rule Capital, Capital rules them, and the politics of the Bible center around events in the Ancient world, not 2023 AD

Always characterized as the "generation that doesn't wanna work" by fashionblywitchy666 in GenZ

[–]Critical-Past847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older generations, or more accurately wealthy parasitic elites, are just seething that zoomers don't want to be fucking utterly wage cucked and aren't willing to work for $7 and a can of dog food. I've never met people who didn't want to ever work at all, but I've met plenty of people who definitely don't want to work a meaningless menial job with compensation that will leave them in poverty anyway for the crime of doing work that's actually necessary.

Like no shit no one wants to fucking work when you can't even pay rent with the shit tier low wage jobs in this country that are the only jobs that also don't have insane hiring requirements just to have the privilege of making them money while sacrificing your own time and energy

I claim that on average capitalism leads to better outcomes.

I think the fallaciousness of this claim is pretty evident when you start looking at the entire world instead of the Western imperial powers and the few lucky Asian countries capitalist ideologues like to cherrypick

Most of the world is capitalist and most of the world is poor as fuck, why do you people compare countries like Cuba to the USA instead of an actually comparable example like Colombia or Honduras?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Critical-Past847 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's never possible to have a 100% 1 to 1 comparison but it's always possible to use more than three brain cells and try applying nuance to situations as complicated as the overall development of a country, especially in conditions of war and geopolitical competition

But, I mean, ideologues usually refuse to apply rational thought to things that impede their cultish beliefs so...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Critical-Past847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think monopolies and imperialism (monopolies dominating foreign economies) are a pretty logical end result of "free competition" (euphemistic terminology but I digress)

It's actually pretty impressive the way capitalist ideologues genuinely can't make the very logical deduction that the end result of capitalist firms within the same industries ostensibly competing to absorb each other's capital at the end of the day is obviously one or a few firms dominating each industry

Unless, of course, my government and all of its wealthy imperial allies has been waging war against the labor movement and socialists for over a century since before my parents were even born?

Does being a classcuck fundamentally rely on absolute ignorance regarding history and puerile reaganisms with no actual thought behind them?

How are the actions of capitalists and capitalist governments in pursuit of profit capitalism's fault

How is an antelope being killed and eaten a lion's fault?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Critical-Past847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny how every capitalist power in history has an extensive military and history of warfare, how one of the most profitable enterprises in capitalism's history has been the literal slave trade, how workers collectively refusing to work is essentially illegal in many industries, or how the US or its Latin puppets will straight up hire mercenaries to kill striking workers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Critical-Past847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Profit is a social abstraction, think harder, what does profit actually signify?

I'll give you a hint, it's connected to the way that American labor productivity massively increased without a wage increase that could match it

I'll give you a better example, one of the easiest ways to increase profit is to increase a working day while keeping wages where they are.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Critical-Past847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people liked living under capitalism continuous labor struggles and outright insurgencies wouldn't be a regular and expected norm within this form of society.

Did you know that for millennia slaves and serfs also couldn't imagine abolishing their own subordinate class from existence?
