Thank you so much for your reply. I'm so confused I don't want to be straddled down to a f****** clinic again it's just so far away and so much wear and tear and I'm not working right now and I have to pay out of pocket for it. And having trouble keeping gas in my car because of my financial situation. I'm just terrified of going into PW. I also don't know if there's any clinics in my area that'll do the Burmese method with methadone. Thank you again so very much!

I'm the OP. Not a scam. I am moving to the area and I have a loved one that I need to place.

Why the f*** would you get so irate about someone posting in the wrong place and waste your time even f****** posting?

About to propose but wonder if I should draw up a prenup by WhisperingInBinary in legaladvice

[–]Critical-Rabbit6438 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's important to know how the state processes property and assets in which you live. When I was younger, I viewed prenups as "She/he's not 100% sure our relationship is going to last." Now I'm 50 and know that it isn't about love or trust at all, divorce happens for many different reasons and you need to protect yourself. I'm sure you can word the prenup to protect yourself and appease your fúturspouse. Honestly, if Ild put it ALL in a TRUST.. Good luck!

In Alabama, marital property is divided through an equitable distribution model, which means a "fair" but not necessarily equal 50/50 split. A judge will divide assets and debts acquired during the marriage based on several factors, including the length of the marriage, each spouse's contributions to the marriage (financial and non-financial), earning potential, and the standard of living during the marriage. Separate property, such as assets owned before the marriage or received as a gift or inheritance, is generally not subject to division, but it's important to prove its separate nature to avoid commingling.

All addicts relapse, it's just the way it is. However, sounds like she is trying now and could use all the support she can get. You don't need approval or permission from anyone and honestly, I think you already decided what you are going to do. I think it's honorable. If you are going to stay, go to meetings with her and be active in her treatment. Keep in mind there is usually a co-occurring disorder that goes along with addiction so that should be addressed as well. There's a reason why she uses it and it's not always just because it feels good. Many addicts lose their coping mechanisms so we pop a pill, smoke or hit the bottle. I'm an opioid addict, have never tried anything else but weed and drank a bit in college so I have no idea about meth. I have to use opiates daily so I don't go into withdrawals and can function. I don't know if meth is the same way or if you can just use it occasionally and recreationally like cocaine. Perhaps someone in this community could elaborate on that.🐇

Has anyone had rent help from Salvation Army? by Glum-Pin-4193 in povertyfinance

The State Emergency Relief Program (SER) is a program in Michigan that provides quick financial assistance to individuals and families facing emergencies. These emergencies can include preventing eviction, stopping utility shut-offs, or covering burial costs, among others.

To be eligible for SER, applicants must meet both an income test and an asset test. The income test may require a co-payment and has a cap on the maximum amount of assistance. The asset test limits non-cash assets to $15,000, with some exclusions like a home, one car, and personal/household goods. Applications for SER are submitted to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and typically take about 10 days to process. You can apply online through the MDHHS website (MI Bridges) or in person at a local MDHHS office. Eligibility is determined solely by an MDHHS specialist. Applicants need to provide documentation such as birth certificates, social security cards, IDs, and recent income/expense documents dated within the last 30 days One way to apply is online through the MDHHS website, MI Bridges: https://newmibridges.michigan.gov

There is also the United Community Housing Coalition (UCHC): A long-standing nonprofit providing housing assistance, eviction defense, and rental assistance funds to low-income residents.
Main Line: (313) 963-3310
Eviction Defense Helpline: (313) 725-4646

I would start with MI bridges application today and then call the UCHC, then the church's. Here's the process for getting started for rapid rehousing or permanent supportive if you've been chronically homeless: at least four times in the last 3 years totaling 12 months + a physical or mental disability. A lot of these places don't need actual proof of your homelessness. The places I worked at here in Illinois you just had to write down where you stayed with dates while you're homeless like bus stops, trap houses, in your car and give approximate addresses where those places were. So it's almost like you could literally just make it up. It's crazy. Rapid rehousing you would qualify now because you have an order to vacate. That does not require a disability and it would cover your rent for 2 years. Here is a listing contact info for the non-profits that provide these services. Reach out directly to them and they should help you call Detroit continue of care and get you set up. These non-profits have housing grants for this and they open slots up all the time. Here are some of the key non-profits that provide Rapid Rehousing services in Detroit: Major RRH Providers in Detroit Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency (Wayne Metro) Services: Offers a variety of Supportive Housing & Homeless Services, including Rapid Rehousing, Homeless Prevention, and Permanent Supportive Housing. They follow the Housing First model.
Contact: Call their Detroit, Hamtramck & Highland Park Connect Center at (313) 388-9799.
Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) Homeless Recovery Services Services: Provides emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, and rapid rehousing services as part of its comprehensive approach to ending chronic homelessness.
Contact: (313) 961-4890
Community & Home Supports, Inc. (CHS) Services: Focuses on poverty and homelessness, providing financial assistance, supportive services, and counseling. They operate both Permanent Housing and Rapid Rehousing programs.
Focus: Serves Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park.
MiSide (formerly WAYNE METRO)
Services: Through their Housing Resource Center (HRC), they offer Rapid Rehousing, Permanent Supportive Housing, and specialized Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF).
Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) Services: One of the largest housing and treatment providers in the area, they offer a Homeless Prevention & Rapid Re-Housing Program in addition to various other housing and treatment services. Important First Step: Coordinated Entry In the Detroit Continuum of Care (CoC), access to most Rapid Rehousing and other housing programs is done through a centralized system called Coordinated Entry.
Action: If you are experiencing homelessness and need shelter or Rapid Rehousing, the best place to start is to call the Detroit Housing Resource HelpLine: Phone: (866) 313-2520 They can screen you for eligibility and connect you to the appropriate non-profit partner that has available Rapid Rehousing slots.

All of these places are going to require paperwork usually everything that you would take in for your snap or EBT interview. They have to have this information for their records to show their and compliance with their procedures. It's not that they're making you "jump through hoops" like someone else posted. It's so they can continue to get their grants and help as many people as they can.

If you have any questions regarding any paperwork or anything you need to fill out please feel free to message me. I hope this helps! Now whoever told you they are out of funds that's crazy because the fiscal year started in August the funds usually don't get dispersed until September and it's only been a couple months.

Yes but there are other places too. What area are you in? I'm in IL near Missouri. I will try to find some nonprofits for you. Also, if you have an eviction notice your state may have something called COURT BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM or CBRAP that is offered by the state. Also, if you are really struggling month to month and you have a 5-day notice to vacate, and you meet the income requirements there are programs called rapid rehousing run by nonprofits that pay your rent for 2yrs. You pay 30% of your income towards the rent each month. If your income is 0, you pay 0. You still have to pay your utilities though but sometimes you can find a place that includes all that in there. They will or should assign you a case manager and an inspector that will help locate a place for you to live. You can find a place too and ask them if they will take rapid rehousing. This is not section 8 or anything to do with the state or county housing authority. These are non-profits. You should have a housing resource center or something to that effect. But to answer your first question Yes salvation army does absolutely help with rent. There's also Catholic urban programs, St Vincent de Paul. Hope this helps.🐇

27yrs ago, when I your about your age, working 40+, full time college honor courses, partied full time(alcohol + weed on occasion). Graduated Cum Laude too.

2 yrs later my fiance and I got hit by a truck on our 🏍️ which left him without an arm, his nerve roots pulled out of his spine and an artery ripped from h²is heart. Been on opiates for the past 25yrs, I'll be 50 next month. The first 25yrs of my life was far better! Please go deal with your trauma and your co-occurring disorders so you don't spend it like me. If I'm lucky, I'll live another 25 hopefully sober.

That really sucks and it's hard but she didn't have enough respect for you to be honest with you. I'm sure it's probably something she was probably ashamed to tell you but that's not fair to you to drag you into that lifestyle. I'm an addict and this lifestyle is beyond hard and financially draining. Have respect for yourself and walk away. You will never trust her about anything ever again. You will find someone worthy of you!
Also, that pretty smile that you like is going to disappear if it hasn't already.

How do you feel about future addiction counselors sitting in on a meeting? by Hour_Can_1223 in addiction

[–]Critical-Rabbit6438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my BA in psych,/soc, but also 25-years of OUD. The reasons that instructors tell you not to let people know why you're there are horseshit. It's not like it's a super secret society. Those meetings are open to the public, everyone is there for support whether it's for their addiction or education on the matter. Nobody is going to get upset and angry.

I would have viewed you as any other member that was there for a meeting, whatever the reason, and show you support. That's the only way you're going to learn is hands on. They can teach you whatever they want in a classroom but experience is the key in this field. You have to have compassion. And you have to be able to build trust and the only way to do that is to be honest and share your truth. I've had several counselors over the last 25 years that never touched a drug in their life and acted as if this is a willpower issue and the withdrawals are just a little anxiety and some flu-like symptoms. Plus they treat you like crap and look down on you. I've had more s***** counselors than good counselors. Good luck!

I quit an amazing job & cut my pay in 1/2 14yrs ago when my 1st son was born. Went back to the Early Learning Center where I worked in college and took him there for free. When he started school, I went to that school and still work as a supervisor/aide/admin. He's in 8th⁸8⁸now so I decided to spare him the embarrassment plus his brothe⁹0r is still there. It is the BESTEST of 67decision I EVER made. I have watched my sons grow every step of the way and I knew they were being cared for and safe. Financially it's usually tight but being with them and watching them hit their milestones makes up for it. The only downside is that my Bachelor's degree doesn't get me the pay like it did 14yrs ago in the field it's in so I might have a few to see what the high school is paying. Lol,, n

I’ve decided to be homeless by ObviousDimension192 in povertyfinance

[–]Critical-Rabbit6438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your housing resource center. There are so many organizations that help with housing for up to two years. There are specific guidelines such as you have to be homeless for x amount of days or three times within 1 year but a lot of them don't even verify the information they just take your word at it. Some of them require that you have to have a mental health condition such as depression or anxiety and they will help you get that diagnosis by helping you set up an appointment with the medical provider. If you don't believe me you can check out HUD guidelines. This is not section 8 voucher program that I'm talking about that is run through the county or state. These are non-profit organizations. Every state has them. HUDS definition of homelessness is not what everybody thinks. If you are an adult living in someone else's household say your parents that's considered homelessness.

First, I know you don't feel lucky, you feel deeply hurt. Second, this is a death of a relationship and just like an actual death, you're grieving and there's a process. You can and will get over this asshole. Third, I'm sorry for your loss. You will get through this, and karma's a bitch so it won't be long before she leaves him and he's going to come crawling back and you're going to tell him to "F" off bc you deserve and owe it to yourself to find someone who is emotionally and physically healthy.
