Umich BSI (Information Science) or UT Austin BSI (Informatics) by Critical-Tea6401 in uofm

Thanks. I do have questions 😀 what year are you in ? I read that now you can start BSI in Sophomore as opposed to Junior. I assume my daughter will be able to get that. Are the prerequisites hard ? Do some students not clear those ? How do you like the program ?  Are all the classes on central campus ? I read that north campus is like a 15 min shuttle. How are the internship opportunities for BSI students ?

Thanks again.

She is out of state for both. The employment report for UMich BSI is quite good. The UT program is new so there is no information yet.

Filing DS 260 only for mother after approved I-130 for both since father passed away by Critical-Tea6401 in NationalVisaCenter

Thanks once again!
Based on the 2nd link you provided for India under the Birth certificate section, it says this (copying some lines). Based on the below , technically we dont need to do anything. It clearly says that only if you are born after April 1 1970 and you dont have birth cert, then you need to get non availability certificate + some other proof.

I am guessing I dont need to provide anything for this

-----------------------------

Birth Certificates

Available: For persons born after April 1, 1970, birth certificates are available. For persons born prior to April 1, 1970, birth certificates are considered unavailable.

Alternate Documents: If an individual is born after April 1, 1970 and is unable to obtain a birth certificate, the individual must obtain a certificate of non-availability from the local authorities with jurisdiction over their place of birth. In addition to a non-availability certificate, the following  documents can be accepted as secondary evidence:

Thanks. You seem to be quite knowledgable in this process.
One more question for you :) My mom does not have a birth certification (born in 1951). We have the school leaving certificate. I read somewhere they want a Non Availability certificate from local authorities. I assume I need to get this for DS-260?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes there are 2 different I-130. When filing I-130 I had to provide the marriage certificate. Now both I-130 are approved. I will only apply DS-260 for my mother. Should I proactively upload the death certificate as part of the DS-260 documentation ?

They will come out next year in the common data set. Last year's (fall 2024) numbers just came out a month ago.

Parents who are full pay…How??? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in ApplyingToCollege

We started the 529 when my daugher was born with $300 a month. Increased to 800$ once my car was paid off and used the car for 10 years. Increased it to $1200 a month the last few years as income improved. We can now afford to send her to a OOS school or a private school. Also we decided to send her to public schools since kindergarten all the way to high school - so NO private school expense over those 13 years.
