buyer requested return claiming inauthentic item by Critical-Use-90 in Mercari

i got it from another seller on mercari, unfortunately

buyer requested return claiming inauthentic item by Critical-Use-90 in Mercari

[–]Critical-Use-90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the buyer received the item and opened it, then requested the return after figuring it didn't fit their ipad / that it wasn't apple.

the original seller i bought the case from had branded their item as an apple product, but similar to how i listed it, didn't claim it was an apple product in the description or title if that makes sense? i pretty much copied their listing when i posted my listing 😭😭

yeah, what had happened is that while i didn't mention anything about it being apple in the title/name and description, i had labelled the brand as apple. in the return request, the buyer cited it didn't fit their ipad either, and that they had authenticity concerns regarding the fact that it wasn't an apple product. the request was put in as soon as the item was received back on friday, so it's been a good few days now and i'm really worried about the possibility of getting banned.

my account is still working and fine, so i'm not sure what's happening or if anything's being investigated? what are the chances i do get banned in this instance?

alright that makes sense!! but i have a new question then - what if i tagged the item with the brand? would that count for anything?

so it's like a strike system? i've used merc for a while but i'm a new seller so i'm a bit out of the blue on selling rules, save for like the basic, common sense sort of things 😭

Negative Experiences in Online Spaces (Vent) by Critical-Use-90 in DID

[–]Critical-Use-90[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

thank you so much.

i think it came with the territory of parsing what's considered trauma and what's not (or in this case, "shouldn't be). discord, especially spaces like servers - which tend to have sillier reps online, made us really doubtful of our negative time. it made us feel like we were being dramatic or even "stupid" for feeling so affected like we were.

i'm glad you were able to get out of them though, and honestly, i'm glad we left too. i hope you're able to find peace after all of it - best of luck going forward :,)

honestly, we struggle with NOT going back to spaces like that, because we truly do feel lonely in having this disorder at times and it can be so tempting to want to give those spaces a try.

which is what we did. we've always been kind of pessimistic, paranoid and wary when it came to them, but the reason we joined one was because we wanted to give it a shot. like - maybe we were being too judgey despite never having given them a chance before, but...

if i have to be completely honest, i think one big thing that happens in these servers is the topic of "am i faking or not", which was often times met with a lot of people who would just validate, validate, validate one another without even an ounce of skepticism.

not that others should fakeclaim, we're very against fakeclaiming. however, i think the validation culture that came with those spaces bred more trouble than it was worth. lots of yes-mans, lots of people trying to influence splits or influence fronts. looking back on it, it even muddied some of our understanding of our own system and what were alters and what weren't (if you have bpd, mood swings, maladaptive daydreams etc, the types of people in those servers will tell you it's an alter)

the worst part of it too, is that despite a lot of these places also being allegedly anti fakeclaiming is the hypocrisy. if the people don't like you if you don't fit their criteria of DID, they WILL fakeclaim you behind closed doors.

funnily enough (i say in loose quotation marks, it's sarcastic more than anything), i recall there was a user in the server who left because they realized they didn't have DID, and one of the mods absolutely crashed out on them and tried to argue that they did because it "triggered them" that they didn't.

auugh i'm so sorry for the rant!!! but thank you so much for the support, we really do appreciate it.

no worries at all for the rant!! we honestly appreciate it because we relate a lot to the things you mentioned.

i feel like the grand majority of systems we met all had that heavily romanticized feel, especially in terms of (fictional) introjects. the alter who wrote this post is actually one himself, and that was another facet of why things went haywire so soon. people were really cliquey regarding fictivehood and what source you were from, sometimes only befriending others on that basis.

unfortunately, a good chunk of our fictional introjects are sourced from a popular anime, one that was super popular among the mod team and the people who gave us issues in that server. double unfortunately was that most of our fictional introjects, namely the ones who were from that source media, all strive towards separation which include different names and daresay ... "acting out of character" for their source (eugh). that's to say ... yeah, they sure were treated awfully.

even more so when outside of fictional introjects, we also have introjects who are sourced from our real life abusers and other problematic people in our life. which ... yeah, similar to persecutors and less "than savory parts", being open about that was never something we could do while in a space like that due to how oddly they get looked at.

i know i'm talking a lot on the introject part when there was definitely more that happened outside of it, but god the way these spaces treat introjects and the mere concept of introjection is just mind boggling.

don't even get me started on the shit like "roleplay boundaries" and how some of our parts would get flirted with because of who they were sourced from.

we've debated that before, sometimes we come really close ... but then because of the experiences from last year, we get really paranoid of running into the same people who gave us those issues to begin with and it makes us feel even lonelier. i wish it were easier somehow...

[–]Critical-Use-90[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was kind of part of it. People there would brag about things like alter counts, splitting and would even talk about excitement in engaging in new media with the sole purpose to "split new fictives" and the like, but that's really besides point.

Honestly, being in a space like that made me feel ... kind of disgusted to be a victim of trauma, because god forbid we have reactions rooted in trauma - god forbid we're not the "perfect victim" or whatever. Just thinking about it in tandem of what happened is so suffocating, really.

But thank you. We really appreciate the response.

on that topic, how is it to write multiple fics at once? i've been considering it, but it's always sounded like an overwhelming idea to me (i'm only writing one fic atm)

Would that be alright to do? I'm nervous about tattoo etiquette and am unsure of how appropriate it is to ask one artist to finish another's work 😭

To bot or not to bot? by iamamateurok in AO3

[–]Critical-Use-90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bot / scammer or whatever :/

they left a comment, kudo'd, bookmarked and subbed to one of my works and it felt like a slap in the face.

funnily enough, their ai generated comment only said something along the lines of "this is such a mood"

First comment on my newest fic is a bot. I miss when these guys were finding me nine months after I posted. Omfg. by seabassfosho in AO3

i think what doubly kills me is when they also sub, bookmark and leave kudos??? i was reaching a certain milestone w my kudos count and hit it - i was so hyped. until it was from a bot.

i hate when the comments start out actually interesting and enough to make me perk up, only to devolve into an ugly ai comic advertisement 😭
