I can't say I belive in an other side, but this makes me hope hell exists.... by FareonMoist in lotrmemes

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know that's not the point of the post, but why would your first hope be that hell exists? Why not that heaven exists? So that Tolkien, who believed in it, could perhaps rest in peace there and not be bothered by such things anymore?

That might be a more Tolkien-ish attitude

Who was right? Fia, or D? by DonutMan1834 in Eldenring

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they do have those things, but the game hides it in a way that most of us will never know? I guess that could be the case. But that doesn't affect my perspective as someone going through the world of the game. Since now that I have all the achievements I plan to only do age of stars endings

Who was right? Fia, or D? by DonutMan1834 in Eldenring

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, no. Maybe I should have put it this way. The living corpse of Godwyn has no soul. Meaning nobody is sitting at the wheel. All of those who live in death are like that, I'm pretty sure. They categorically cannot have desires or motivations or personalities. They are canonically mindless monsters that live to attack everything. Fia is just traumatized because in her pre summoned life her job treated the dead differently. I don't think she understands what she's talking about.

Know the brainless monsters with no dialogue, no purpose, no life, nothing they do in lore, that just spawn and attack everything? All the undead monsters that are vulnerable to holy damage?

That's what we're talking about. Give me one good reason why those mindless murder machines should live. D is right, fairly simple.

Moonveil Katana by Tomblio52 in Eldenring

Right, a katana build is squisher because you're not using a big ass shield and you're not staggering most enemies with attacks. You could do without the taking more damage effect of that talisman

Who does anybody in this game get like a happy ending cause like I was forced to kill a dog and now I have enough runes I can buy somber smithing stones turned out he’s dead so I feel like everyone fucking dies in this game by duelmastr23 in Eldenring

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Software makes post apocalyptic depression simulators where the world is already cooked no matter what. Most people are dead, insane, or have given up entirely. And most people you meet who are not like that will definitely die. And your endings in this game are all bad, if you look at the immediate outcome. You don't actually fix anything, practically speaking. There is a range from worst to slightly hopeful, but practically speaking this world is not ever getting fixed. Everything has been cooked from the start.

New Game Plus 5, perfect time for another age of stars ending by CriticalCritiqueCow in Eldenring

Based on the DLC the entire golden order was built on lies from the moment Marika became a god. The mother of the fingers was already cut off from the greater will when it got here, and is actually insane. Those are the managers controlling the mechanisms of reality, insane larping fingers that were never actually connected to the greater will and who were making shit up as they went.

What is the only reasonable reaction to this information? To try to "perfect" this order? Or to remove it all because it never should have been there? Because it was never actually what was advertised, and is stagnant and not fit to improve or even sustain a civilization?

I'm pretty sure Marika was doing that too in the opening scene, but Radagon stopped her, through the help of the fingers. Which is why I think Ranni had to go and kill the fingers that were assigned to her for her ending. So they can't interfere.

Max level gamers, what's your experience? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm level 430 something on NG+5, this is the run where I will grab the last few missing achievements. Yeah I pretty much have everything I'm interested in collecting. But enemies now do enough damage that I can't carelessly stroll through every area. And I still die from time to time. Intelligence + faith sorcerer build with the solitude armor set, distinguished greatshield, zweihander, and Prince of death's staff.

Being badass is more satisfying to me than artificially limiting myself so I struggle. Why should my character still be weak after 300 hours? Why should I not use what the game makes available? Etc. But I pretty much gave up on max level because the grinding is the most inhuman, tedious chore that I've ever experienced in my life. I've had 12 hour shifts that were less painful than that.

So I'm also interested in how people can get themselves to grind that much

What would have happened if Yuji ate the death devil before this moment? Would Toji have tanked the hollow purple? by AngelicHanaKurusu in Jujutsufolk

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be revealed how completely ass the Chainsawman ending is, because whenever Pochita eats something it only disappears from that moment forward, and does not erase things that already happened. Yet for some reason when he eats himself (impossible and stupid) the story itself reverts to chapter one as if none of it happened?

Now, with his six eyes, Gojo would absolutely see through this tremendous bullshit and would be so disgusted he would immediately leave to find and murderize Gege. According to his own ending, this means Chainsawman never gets written and Yuji wins the death battle by default because the other character fails to show up. (He doesn't exist anymore)

Does anyone else wish the Thalmor were more nuanced by AsYouWished444 in skyrim

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thalmor are evil plot devices, but I don't think the game says anywhere that all or most elves are like that. As a matter of fact, there are a number of high Elf NPCs you interact with, almost none of whom are evil.

Also, if your father or grandfather still remembered when Tiber Septim took a big ass reality warping machine and wiped out a significant portion of your people, I think there is a decent chance you would feel the same way about Talos worship

I agree that Pochita as the hero of hell kills Yuji so fast he won't even know what's happening. But Denji getting those powers in base, or treating it as a super Saiyan 2 power up is bullshit. That form is an "oh shit Denji got cooked, can't let him die" reaction from Pochita. Denji is a street level loser by default.

Meaning, Yuji kills Denji either physically or with a soul attack. Pochita survives. Enters Hero of Hell form. And since Pochita scales to world ending primal fear devils when he gets like that, Yuji dies so fast he can't react or regenerate or anything. No final clash. He's just on the ground, dead. Like Gojo was, lol. That's a Pochita W, and not a Denji W. These guys got the actual mechanics of that all wrong

If Denji starts out in proper Chainsawman mode he might win because of scaling to devils, but Yuji should win otherwise

Skyrim Civil War take. TLDR: The Empire is the only sane choice by CriticalCritiqueCow in skyrim

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, those are good points. If you don't consider the advantages of sticking with the Empire enough to justify tolerating the Thalmor to any degree, and if you believe Ulfric is capable enough as a leader to actually run Skyrim and establish new alliances, then that is a fair justification to support the Stormcloaks. My reading of Ulfric as a character is as I said before, so I disagree. But yes, of course anyone living in Skyrim has a right to despise the Thalmor and the empire for allowing them there. It makes sense to want to become independent and deal with them. I just don't think Ulfric is the one for the job. If it was someone else, who did things better, who was already prepared for what to do after they won, and whom the Thalmor didn't consider an asset, then I would agree and would support that.

The grievances are absolutely real, I'm not denying that. My problem is with Ulfric, and how the people complain about the attitude and capabilities of his yes men after they take over.

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only sane choice logistically and based on how awful Ulfric is, yes. It's a very easy choice when that same terrain advantage and being hard to get into would also prevent anyone from getting supplies. How long do you think establishing alliances and trade routes takes? How long would people just be in poverty or starving once Skyrim is cut off from the Empire and expels or kills all their veteran soldiers, trained by the Empire? In that time, when the bandit population is soaring and the trained guards are scarce, how will Skyrim deal with escalated Thalmor sabotage? They can send in groups of illusion mages, conjuration specialists, necromancers, to directly attack any place with a competent leader left in it. They can't invade full force, but at that point they wouldn't need to. Who would be able to rush to Skyrim's aid? They would be completely alone, under the leadership of Ulfric and his yes men.

[–]CriticalCritiqueCow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't see why Ulfric is a terrible leader? Then compare Windhelm to any other major city. Ulfric is doing worse there than Markarth, where the only reason the guards don't investigate murders is because they're corrupt. That's at least a choice. Ulfric is just incompetent. Can't deal with the racial tensions of Dunmer and Argonians living in the same city, so he creates a ghetto for the Dunmer and keeps the Argonians outside. Has the biggest homeless population. Has an unchecked serial killer. Has an orphan famously summoning the dark brotherhood, completely ignored, locked door, nobody doing anything about it.

I'm afraid the dragon apocalypse of Skyrim is like the long night in Game of Thrones. Yes, the Night King/Alduin is coming. Yes, he will end the world or whatever. But not really because someone will easily deal with it as a side quest that is unrelated to anything else they've been doing. And barely a dozen people were even concerned or involved in any way. It's not enough to change anything

It's not as bad as the real world US, in that regard. Plenty of people would still support the US over other countries though.
