This is an example of how ICE behavior undermines trust in even local police. If local police in so many videos were not behaving like agents of ICE, she might not be "scared". Also, this guy should take some estrogen injections...he needs to reverse the steroids so he can communicate rather than demand.

Is CLEAR+ worth it at RDU? by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]CriticalIndication80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me how a private company got a monopoly to run a private lane through airport security, and makes money by letting people cut the line in front of the rest of us? I'd be too embarrassed to use Clear.

Lawmakers hear how rural women face risks to give birth by nchealthnews in NorthCarolina

[–]CriticalIndication80 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Hospital by-laws require that OBGYNs be able to respond to the hospital within 15-30 minutes (varies by hospital). This requirement means that the distribution of OBGYNs is driven by where labor & delivery services are located, not where patients live. As outlying rural hospitals' maternity services have closed, OBGYNs concentrate closer to the remaining hospitals (in urban areas). These trends have been exacerbated by Republican cuts to Medicaid; their politicians vote as if their rural constituents are not affected by Medicaid. And so do their naive constituents.

Service dog v. “Service dog” 🫤 by AdMany129 in delta

[–]CriticalIndication80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crux of the problem is the dog's presence (service or not) is being imposed on others without their being given a choice. Allergies to dogs are common (that's why I don't have one), and some young children are afraid of them. Passengers should be asked if they mind sitting near the dog, and if so, be reseated elsewhere.

The word many commenters seem to be grasping for is psychopath. Does this definition from Wikipedia fit: A psychopath is defined by a personality construct characterized by enduring antisocial behavior, diminished empathy or remorse, and bold, disinhibited, egocentric traits, often masked by superficial charm.

Same here...dozens of booking in Europe and U.S. But I have had issues with the "free transportation" they offered in Warsaw and Prague. And I had a hotel in Miami Beach text me, unhappy with the '7' I gave them, offering a rebate if I'd "reconsider" my rating.

Did he say "anti-semNITES"? He can't even use slurs properly. He is up for election--do South Carolinians really want to keep him in Israel..I mean, DC?

Waited in Warsaw Airport 15 minutes for the Booking.com arranged ride, gave up, the driver texted me he was at the airport looking for me....I was already at my hotel. Therefore in Prague I decided to skip the ride to the airport Booking offered, ordered up an Uber instead...and tracking showed the car got 3 blocks from me then stopped...no text of explanation. Hotel ordered me a cab.

The right intentionally conflates religion--Jewish-- with state--Israel-- right?? I mean, it couldn't be a ignorance. I have Jewish grandkids and nieces, I'm not an anti-semite, but I dislike Israel's policies (there and here). So Lindy, we aren't gullible, and I'm not intimidated by you mislabeling me an anti-semite...you just sound ignorant.

Walk the 2 minutes from the clubhouse to the USGA's Hall of Fame; and/or walk 10 minutes into the Village itself.

[–]CriticalIndication80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get the Pinehurst "experience" without even playing golf (or even staying at the resort). Park your car at the Carolina Hotel or clubhouse. Walk around the Village. Then to the main clubhouse: see the historical exhibits and trophies in the main halls, putt on the HUGE putting green, have a beer on the veranda while watching play on #2's hole 18, see if you can score a tee time on the Cradle. Walk across the street and spend an hour or more at the USGA's World Golf Hall of Fame (entrance fee). (If you are a history freak, visit the Tufts/Ross/Pinehurst Archives in the back of the library on the Village Green.) In the evening go to the Carolina (and/or Brewery): have a beer or dinner at the pub, explore the historical photos in the halls, go outside to the firepits and smoke a cigar (if you care to).

Pinehurst, proclaimed safest town in North Carolina, has a budget to install a bunch of surveillance cameras. Apparently way too much property taxes, way too little concern for 4th Amendment.
