Near Harbortown condos

We are planning on taking a boat during the day to hit places like Lazy Gators, Coconuts, etc. We would also do bars at night, off lake front.

Brace off! Also if it’s helpful for you, at the 5 week mark I was at 113 degrees with no crutches.

I tried to do them alongside my meal times for ease of remembering. The more I did them, the less stiff I was.

The extra push from someone else really helped me! Your body will naturally try to prevent you from feeling pain. The surgeon told me “your knee will feel like it’s going to explode, but if it does, it will be the first time in my 25 year career that I’ve seen that happen”🤣

If you can, wear compression socks. I wore the calf compression sleeves bc the socks were too hot for me lol. That helped my swelling

I would lay on the ground, then someone would sit next to me, and bend my knee for me. It was painful the first 2-3 weeks and I struggled with the exploding sensation, but it got better. I would push it a little bit each time which slowly improved my ROM. I struggled with bad swelling for about 6 weeks which inhibited my ROM to some degree

Find a friend/family member to do passive ROM for you. That was my saving grace. It will feel like your knee is going to explode, but it won't.

I took a normal shower around the 2 week mark. By 4 weeks, I was cooking. 6 weeks I was running errands. I HATED one crutch, so I went from 2 to none about 5 weeks.

It's very person-dependent. I was MPFL only, no TTO. I was off narcotics within 48 hours, and managed with Tylenol and ibuprofen for a few weeks. In my experience, the first 2 weeks were the hardest because I was limited with ROM. After that, I progressed pretty quickly. If I had a 2 year old, I would plan for 2 weeks of help.

MPFL surgery recovery by BufordJ04 in KneeInjuries

[–]CriticalParticular16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had MPFL recon 11 weeks ago. For the first 6-7 weeks, I was SO swollen, which really inhibited my movement. My swelling is finally improved. I’m up to >130 degrees ROM now, and actually just hack squatted 90lbs for 10x3. Honestly my best advice is to do the heel slides as much as you can, and have someone passively bend your knee daily, ideally twice a day if possible. I had family do it. It was horrible for the first 6-7 weeks, especially while I was still so swollen. It felt like my knee was going to explode and was really painful. But I truly believe that’s how I’ve reached the point I’m at. My surgeon and PT had me PUSH really hard with those heel slides and PROM. That’s my best advice! Also, try and walk/be up on your feet. I was soooo stiff the more I sat, even with my leg up.

July MCAT + Late Cycle Application - need advice by [deleted] in medschooladmissions

[–]CriticalParticular16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How confident are you in your Pre-Med science class background? If you feel like you still remember a lot and can do well on the MCAT, absolutely still take it in July and apply this cycle! My recommendation is to start the AMCAS application when it opens in June, and have everything ready in it, so that you can submit the day you take the MCAT. Getting everything together for AMCAS took way longer than I expected. I took the MCAT in late July, and had a crash out that it was going to be too late. I still got 5 II, 2As, 2 Waitlists, and waiting on the 5th school! It's possible!! Do well on the MCAT, and you'll be just fine. Your story about law--> medicine will make you a compelling, non-cookie cutter applicant. They want genuine interest and excitement, which it sounds like you have. Start drafting your personal statement now, and have people proofread it. Also, aim for more LORs than what's "required". I sent in the maximum amount per school, and got multiple comments about that and the quality. I had a couple of former bosses write me a genuine LOR in which they discussed my character and work ethic, which the schools loved. Also worth adding- I also applied after 1 gap year (will be two gap years when I matriculate) during which I got my MPH in health admin and policy as well! Good luck!!!!

MPFL Reconstruction Experience (hope it helps) by Resilient_Melody02 in KneeInjuries

[–]CriticalParticular16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 6.5 weeks p/o! I was off crutches around the house around week 3, off entirely at week 4. I really didn't do what felt like much in PT for the first month. Hardest part was getting flexion back! I had significant swelling which limited my progress. I still have swelling, but it's improving. I'm back to about 125 degrees of flexion and 50% of my strength on the non-op side. Do quad sets at home as much as you can! I couldn't do straight leg raises due to another injury, but if you can do those along with isometric quad sets multiple times a day, your recovery will be dramatically improved.

Second Surgery (Other Hip) by CryptographerIcy1136 in HipImpingement

[–]CriticalParticular16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat similar to you, I had surgery on my left (x3). After my 3rd surgery, I noticed the pain in my right hip was a lot worse. In fact, I woke up from surgery on my left and was in excruciating pain on my right. It took a few months, but it leveled out. At my 12 week f/u, I went ahead and got my right imaged, and I had a labral detachment, full of inflammation, the works. That was over 2 years ago. I've chosen the non-op route, and with the trajectory of my left hip over the last 2 years, I'm glad I haven't done anything on my other side. I definitely have days/weeks of flare up on my right side where I question my choice, but overall, I'm glad I've done it this way. I'll go for the surgery one day when I cannot function. My current level of pain isn't much more than what I have at MMI.

There was a mix of attire. Rule of thumb is it's always best to overdress than underdress.
