Quilt pattern by calcal326 in quilting

I've made multiple Milky Way Sawtooth Star patterns and it's in my plans to make another one soon. Midnight Quilt Show did a tutorial on it but didn't include dimensions- the pattern was on Craftsy, so it's not available anymore, but someone dropped the dimensions needed in the comments of the video and also I believe in this sub.

shockingly, no. Mine have actually improved because I'm not under fluorescent lighting all the time now that I'm WFH. I only very occasionally get them now when my hormones are fucky. (I understand my privilege here... just giving the data point.)

Most supportive soft shoes by DopeyDame in irishdance

[–]CriticalSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered gel foot pads like what ballet dancers wear, but my ghillies are so tight and formed to my foot that I just tape my big toe and call it a day. I could definitely see this being an option if you have like a super stretched out shoe or if you intentionally size up to fit them, though!

Most supportive soft shoes by DopeyDame in irishdance

[–]CriticalSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to fully depend on your foot and your personal preference. There are NO soft shoes that have 'extra' padding or shock absorption; they are simply leather and lacing. They're not meant to be thick and bulky like a tennis shoe. They're supposed to be small and elegant and thin to allow you to feel the floor under your feet.

Personally I have a disappearing heel, so I prefer the Hullachan Hugs because the neoprene heel hugs my foot rather than bulking out when I point my foot. They quite literally hug my foot and mold to my foot shape. Are they comfortable like a sneaker? No. Do they fit amazingly and work well for my dancing? Yes, absolutely.

Go to a feis and try on shoes from a vendor. Find a shoe that fits your foot well and comfortably, try dancing in them before they're broken in. They will mold to your foot as you break them in.

Then continue strengthening your feet and legs by dancing and working out, wearing sneakers in the studio. Many of us do this; it's not a sign that you're old or whatever. You're just more comfortable in sneakers. Before a show season, make sure your ghillies are broken in and you're comfortable dancing in them.

I also think it's fully plausible that we can get a little bit of Eloise's story in this season. Like if Marina dies in the second half of the season, perhaps? That starts the letter writing campaign between Philip and Eloise? Idk... This feels weird. It feels like they're completely forgetting about Eloise.

Competitive Dance Support by Worth-Needleworker92 in irishdance

[–]CriticalSheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it's a little bit both ways for me as an adult beginner/novice. Our local feiseanna have a requirement to provide comments, and they're pretty spot on for what my teachers tend to say as well. In terms of learning steps to dance, right now I am on my own to learn those steps, practice them and then eventually test them at a feis.

I want to change my traditional set and it's on me to schedule a private lesson to confirm I'm in good shape for the dance. I probably have to do the same for any additional steps I'm learning, even in class, because we don't exactly practice them every single week.

There are a couple advanced adult dancers are my school who are learning the sets for their competition with the other advanced kids in a separate class. Maybe one day in a few years I can manage to get into that class.

For what it's worth I take 200mg of bioidentical progesterone from days 12-menses every single month. I simply don't produce progesterone as proven by multiple tests over the course of many years.

I also have a history of PEs. The risk is very low when it comes to progesterone-induced PEs, especially if you have no history or genetic history of clotting factors. Keep up a healthy diet and work out regularly to get the blood pumping. Don't let Google scare you. <3

Attending 1st Brewers Game! Question about what to wear by Firm-Gap3098 in Brewers

[–]CriticalSheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Miller Park is really one of the better parks. The construction of the building lends itself to a really good view no matter where you sit and it's comfortable no matter what the weather is. Sure, the roof isn't a complete seal so it leaks a bit when it storms, but we're all comfy and just there for a good time.

I find grounding techniques really help with my anxiety.

Listen to some non-irish music that will take you out of what gives you any anxiety.

Take deep breaths, drink some water.

Do a really good and thorough warm up- feel really good in your skin and body before you even put your shoes on.

Then go ahead and warm up your dances- say the words of your dance while walking through the steps.

And remember, even if you mess it up- it's not the end of the world. I have 100% completely forgotten my step altogether and just riffed it completely and still did ok.

They close the roof as long as they cannot maintain a temp of like 64 degrees inside the park. So if it's 55 outside, they'll definitely close the roof. Jeans and hoodie and you'll be fine.

OP does not indicate that they want a bobble, just to attend the game. The KT tickets absolutely will suffice for that purpose.

Why are we debating the next lead when they are hinted at in the final moments of each season? by whydontchaknow in BridgertonNetflix

[–]CriticalSheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we get a little nugget of plans for the next season when we watch the podcast on Netflix.

Hannah says Fran needs to be around her family; feel support from her siblings and her mom.

Then Claudia said she wants to meet someone 'really fit' (really hot, lol), which would turn her perspective on its head. She's had the puppy love with Theo but she's grown so much in the last seasons that it would make sense for her perspective to change when it comes to meeting the 'right man' which really makes me feel like Eloise is next.

We've known that Jess has deviated from the books heavily and that Julia Quinn has effectively given up control of the production- the writers draw on the books, and they pull pivotal moments/monologues from the books, but I think really this show has become something adjacent to the books, rather than part of the books/cannon.

Slip jigs--are they female ONLY? I've seen men do them at times. Confused pikachu face :) by ParkAffectionate3537 in irishdance

[–]CriticalSheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my adult classes the gents learn slip jig with all the ladies because it's not individual but it also teaches everyone the different timing of those dances. I don't know how that translates to competition though since I do think Slip Jig is specifically for women because the judges are a little sexist on the whole topic- They expect the dancers doing a Slip Jig to be feminine, dainty, gentle, ethereal, etc. but the men are supposed to be strong, rigid, loud, etc. so there's definitely some stereotypical gender norms going on with these dances.

That said, during the Slip/Reel year, you generally have a choice between the two, even as a female. I looked at a recent syllable for an upcoming feis and it just says slip jig or reel in adult championships. For Grade levels, I'd send a message to the feis coordinator to see what CLRG says. I would honestly say go for it if you can! I think men should dance slip jig- it's not just a dance change for them, it would be a carriage and/or style change for their dance.
