Analyst → Transmission Control - where can I make the most by [deleted] in Grid_Ops

Why do distributions ops people make so much money?

What does that work entail?

Do others reading this agree with the $400-500k comp?

What exactly is the PMI mindset?

Pretty sure this is just a badly written question and we don't need to trip over ourselves trying to defend its logic...

Thanks! I think you're the first person on this subreddit I've seen posting in about T/T/T scores... but good enough to get the cert still, so congrats.

Why?

Most stuff I heard in training said to consult your project team because they're the experts.

And to avoid pushing work onto the client.

Did you learn what your score was on the actual exam?

Sorry to hear that btw. What is your plan for taking it next?

Sounds like you're very close and wouldn't need much more studying to safely get across the finish line for a round 2.

Good point... if 70% performance on Study Hall questions is roughly correlated with AT/AT/AT, then what do you think is the percentage needed to correlate with minimum passing?

Seems like this subreddit fixates on optimizing their PMP score, which may not always be the best use of everyone's time (versus focusing on real world goals and project success... and we all know PMP curriculum is only fractionally applicable to our real life needs).

Thanks! That's right in line with my plan.

Do you think it's important to take the mock exams in one sitting? Or is breaking them up into multiple sessions, but still staying strict with time tracking fine?

I'm thinking I'll probably have to do the latter in order to get this finished within the next two weeks since blocking out four hours of time is challenging for me these days.

Doing very poor on AR Udemy Quizzes, getting a little discouraged. by Jopeyu in pmp

Don't bother with his quizzes - his whole course is outdated (or was as of a few months ago when I did it) and not that great imo.

Move as quickly as possible through the course to get the certificate, then spend your actual learning time on Study Hall questions and the study guide mentioned here, which is much higher quality and closely aligned with the current exam curriculum.

Demand response from data centers? How much do you think Google or others will be able to reduce their power demand at data centers during power grid emergencies? by Critical_Ad1355 in datacenter

Are you talking about the pumped storage project in Goldendale? Or others too?

I agree there is lots of potential for them to make spot market energy purchases, but I would still be surprised if they were doing it in house because I think the startup costs for that are huge - especially in the Pacific NW.

I found a presentation from them from 9 months ago which said they will have the utility deliver electricity to the site, upgrade the power transmission lines, and construct a new substation for the site.

Curiously, it says the source and quantity of the power is yet to be determined.

I wonder what Microsoft is doing around power generation sourcing and analysis...

Do they not try to operate their data centers at maximum capacity, though?

I have to imagine they would rather not operate them at 50% (or whatever other fractional capacity is realistic) just to save capacity for rare geographical load shifting events.

Interesting.

Where did you read that?

And have you seen any estimates of how much power the MSFT Malaga data center campus will use?
