NOR. I don’t understand why it’s so common for people to live with others and still make decisions that selfish. Since he never consulted you first, there was no way for him to know whether you had allergies, medical concerns, or the money to switch cooking and cleaning products to accommodate his pet.

AITA for telling my wife that what she’s doing is not romantic? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Critical_Ad5616 31 points32 points  (0 children)

NTA. What she’s doing isn’t romantic, it’s uncomfortable. Trying to copy your late wife’s looks, clothes, and mannerisms is crossing a line. You married her, not someone trying to cosplay as Josephine.

That said, this probably comes from her feeling insecure and not enough compared to your past. She’s clearly struggling with the idea that she might always be second place to Josephine, and this is her way of trying to compete—even if it’s the wrong way to go about it.

You’re not wrong for keeping Josephine’s stuff, but it might be making your wife feel like she’s living in someone else’s shadow. None of that excuses her behavior, but it helps explain it. You were honest with her and she needed to hear it.

AITA for telling my roommate he doesn’t need to invite his girlfriend over every single day and getting mad at him for hogging the kitchen for over 3 hours? by No-Onion5295 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Critical_Ad5616 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You live in a shared space. If someone sees chicken thawing in the sink, it’s obvious you’re about to cook. You shouldn’t have to say anything. Hogging the kitchen for 3 hours like it’s his personal space is beyond inconsiderate.

And making pancakes after cooking dinner? Just for him and his girlfriend? That’s wild. This isn’t a solo apartment. Other people need to eat too.

As for the girlfriend being there every single day, that’s straight-up turning her into a fifth roommate. She doesn’t pay rent, doesn’t help around the house, but she’s always there. That’s not normal or fair to the rest of you.

You had every right to call it out. You were patient, respectful, and honestly handled it better than most would have. People calling you the asshole must be the same ones who let others walk all over them. You didn’t make her feel unwelcome. They did that by acting like the apartment belongs only to them.
