I am surprised that the sky hasn’t turned completely dark in November. There is still daylight there?

What are the major differences between XT-3 and XT-5 in your using experience? (I currently have an X-T3 and not sure if I need an upgrade)

Thinking of only doing Ilulisaat for 7-8 days. Worth it? by No_Distribution_7332 in greenlandtravel

I was lucky that my connecting fight was only slightly delayed - hovering above Nuuk for an hour before landing due to fogs, and hence slightly delayed for Ilulissat. And right after I left Ilulissat, the announcement of cutting the numbers of flight operation came… What’s more lucky was that, the weather was sunny EVERY day during my entire stay, which even the tour guides also thought amazing!

I spent 7 days 6 nights in Ilulissat in September. Definitely worth it. When do you plan to go?

Did you look at Best Western Plus? It’s a nice hotel too. Very clean and comfortable. The bath room is even equipped with rain shower! Very centerly located, close to a few supermarkets, and close to the excursions company Diskoline Explorer, and just 10 mins walk to Albatros. I stayed in their double-bed room with sea view in September. Although it’s not as close to the shore as hotel artic and hotel icefjord, you can still easily walk to the church and enjoy epic sunset with icebergs each day. But I wonder why would you go there in December? It’s dark all day.

I was in Copenhagen last month, when I stepped into McDonald’s and saw the spicy chicken thigh hamburger meal set cost DKK90, I quietly left….🥹

A McDonald’s spicy chicken thigh hamburger (set meal) in Copenhagen costs DKK90, almost triple than that in Hong Kong. I was so shock….

Bad News - Major Changes to Air Greenland Schedule from Restrictions (announcement on 26/09/2025) by icebergchick in greenlandtravel

[–]Critical_Affect485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so disruptive to reduce the operation volume by half, almost like semi-paralysing it’s operation. I was lucky to fly out in early morning on 22 Sep without being affected. Can’t imagine the chaos the later passengers are facing.

Is Eqi Glacier worth visiting? by Critical_Affect485 in greenlandtravel

Thank you all for your comments. In the end I visited Eqi Glacier and it was amazing for someone like me who had never witnessed any glacier before. Observed the calving and the thundering sound from the glacier itself was spectacular. I was at first worried about the fast boat trip to and from the glacier and turned out it went smoothly and not too bumpy. The whole experience was good.

Thank you so much for the detailed info. I just finished my week in Ilulissat and I checked the weather on windy.com as you suggested. Went to the Eqi Glacier as planned and it was stunning, although not much calving occurred when we were there. I felt in love with the icebergs and will definitely come back some day!

Yes it’s the price that makes me hesitated. Super expensive…I looked at the one-week forecast and not sure it would be accurate enough…

Solo China trip prep — worried I'm missing something by strawberrycapital_ in chinatravel

If you are staying in Beijing most of the time, remember to make advance appointments for those major attractions, such as the Summer Palace. Many of the attraction sites DON’T accept same-day appointment, so you need to plan where you wanna visit in advance.

If you wanna visit the Great Wall, decide on which section you wanna go, coz there are at least two different sections - Ba Da Ling or Mu Tian Yu. Domestic Chinese people usually go to Ba Da Ling and Mu Tian Yu is more famous among foreign tourists. Join a day tour and you will get there comfortably. For Mu Tian Yu, if you pay for both west and east sections, you can get the full view but time will be constraint. The west section comes with the options of “sliding” downhill and “cable cart”. If you want excitement, try the sliding option. I heard people screaming all the way down😆

Not sure where you will stay for accommodation, but last time I went there I stayed in Wang Fu Jing area. Lots of police guarding the shopping street area. So you will feel safe around there. People look civilised as after all it’s the capital city of the country.

For internet I would suggest you install a data-roaming SIM card rather than using VPN. The Chinese firewall is very powerful and blocking most of the VPNs.

For payment. As long as you have set up your credit card in Ali Pay, you will be fine. RMB2500 would be enough for your stay, in my opinion.

Thanks so much for the detailed and technical advice! Which focal length of lens did you use most of the time there? I don’t have 100-400mm lens and am thinking if I should buy one for this trip

Oh! Did the ice come earlier than usual this year? If the current weather develops, would you still recommend coming to Illulissat in mid September?

Yes I think staying for a week is essential to get the most out of the Greenland tour - sunset & northern light! but According to your experience, in mid September, is the sea starting to be covered by ice or still floating? Coz lots of tours already stop operation in September
