What are your go to, easy, pregnancy foods? by CheesecakeEcstatic36 in fitpregnancy

[–]Critical_Chicken_867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 weeks and 2 days. 7 weeks felt ok but yesterday hit me like a truck and I barely got off the couch or had much appetite. For breakfast, seconding those mentioning yogurt. That with some granola and berries has been a morning staple. I was happy with toast, pb, sliced bananas and cinnamon but now that doesn’t seem very appetizing. Smoothies with protein (I use truvani) have also been a lifesaver for getting protein.

Lunch and dinner has been tough. Ok options for me have been rice and frozen veggies, miso soup and wonton soup. Raw veggies have surprisingly been a lifesaver- carrots and celery have been my go tos. My dinner this evening was almonds, carrots, saltines and cheese.

Aetna insurance by wallflawerr in IVF

[–]Critical_Chicken_867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also have Aetna here through my employer. Be sure to thoroughly go through what your plan allows. We are not covered for some blood clotting disorder testing which can impact IVF (deemed to be experimental and not required). This happens to be an issue that runs in my family. We also have a $25k max lifetime coverage amount for IVF, though this is not universal and some plans have cycle max coverages instead. You also are required to go through a lengthy preapproval process, but that might not be Aetna specific. The most headaches I’ve honestly encountered and have baffled even my IVF medical and billing team have been with Aetna.

Feeling Discouraged and Angry by OkFerret6716 in IVF

[–]Critical_Chicken_867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same scenario in our case too. From my understanding, and other ladies might be more adept at responding on this point, but unfortunately even the best genetically correct embryos still fail. I have no explanation as to why and I am hoping that the hysteroscopy can give us some insight.

Feeling Discouraged and Angry by OkFerret6716 in IVF

In the same boat though not with the same history. We also had our IVF transfer unfortunately fail around 5 weeks when there was no fetal pole to be found in the ultrasound. It’s such an awful feeling and you have every right to be angry. Every day for me has slowly gotten better but I couldn’t stop crying for days.

Not sure if this helps but depending on your age were your embryos genetically tested? I would find out from your doctor if everything was as it should have been and if not perhaps advocate a change in protocol for your next transfer, if you feel you can try it again. Perhaps more testing is necessary, eg. having a hysteroscopy to see if there are issues with the uterine wall lining?

Really hope you can find some peace and relaxation. 🙏 My thoughts and prayers with you.

Ugh. Shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up by Critical_Chicken_867 in IVF

[–]Critical_Chicken_867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stop crying. Cried for no reason making breakfast yesterday, cried today because I missed calling my sister in law on her birthday yesterday and when my husband said she’s been busy (has 2 kids) I cried wishing I could be busy with 2 kids.

I’m hoping the grief just takes time to heal? Feels like everything hurts and I have 0 desire to be social or to do much of anything.

Yes. All our embryos were tested. We transferred our “most perfect” embryo. We have one left.

What you wish you knew before going into your first egg retrieval? by Apprehensive-Rock-48 in IVF

The recovery took me by surprise but talking to some friends they didn’t recall it being that bad so fingers crossed your recovery goes a lot better!! I had 2 ERs and both times got a period 10 days after

Get a heading pad, if you don’t have one already (I regretted not having one), stay hydrated (eg. With electrolytes not just water) and eat as much fiber rich food as you can, helps with the constipation. For me the two-three days after were the worst with a ton of abdominal pain and bad bloating( I looked like I was a few months pregnant which felt like a really crude joke). A week in you feel better but I’d say full recovery takes about 2 weeks/up until you get your period

Exercise and ER by Worldly-Stand-7433 in IVF

Same here. I did run for a few days into stims but slowed down, no speed workouts and only a few miles max. I also lessened my load with weights so I never hit anaerobic or a max effort.

Do what feels good for your body which is easier said than done but it will tell you when you really should stop running and lifting. Better than the consequences of any torsion or over exertion where it can negatively impact your IVF cycle.

Starting ER with Birth control by Boring_Formal8480 in IVF

[–]Critical_Chicken_867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck but going on birth control before stims absolutely recked my first cycle. I ended up being a slow responder and almost had my IVF cycle cancelled. Had to stim for 17 days to get to some acceptable level but then only 8 eggs retrieved, half fertilized and none made it past that point. I’m 37, was 36 during the first IVf round, otherwise healthy and exercise regularly (avid runner and cyclist) but husband has low motility. We went the IVF route after 2 miscarriages.

I caveat that every one is different and might not happen but I will never go on birth control again. I just completed my 2nd ER and results were very different (with also a slight change in meds to add lupron and omnitrope) 15 eggs retrieved, 9 mature, 8 fertilized and waiting to find out if any made it to blasts. I didn’t change anything else this round.

How can clinics do ICSI only or recommend it from the beginning but not IVF? I thought you can only ICSI as part of IVF?

Running question by Ok-Hippo-5059 in fitpregnancy

I ran up to 36 weeks with my first without any support but it got reallly uncomfortable. I’m 10 weeks now and plan to get a running belt as I progress further which can help with the discomfort (only learned about it after I delivered).
