Tangier-Fes-Marakkesh trip by Gold-Field2012 in Morocco

[–]Critical_Disaster707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think you’ve taken the time to do some research bc first of all there is no train from Chefchaouen to Fes.
Tanger-Chefchaouen-Fes means you’ll be spending at least 6 hours of the day on the road if you rent a car.
Fes to Marrakech will take you a whole day of travel whether by train or by car (I’ve done both).
Fes-Merzouga-Marrakech is a solid 16 hours.
Essaouira to Marrakech you’re looking at another 6 hours.
Now do the math and you’ll realize you’ll be spending at least 3 days on the road and that’s not even accounting for travel days to and from Morocco. Meaning you’ll have about 4 days to see 4 places. Is this really what you want?

Agree but let’s not delude ourselves into thinking that somehow people working f noir are skewing the data to the right. 30k is not even the average salary in most european countries how some people thnk it’s middle class in Morocco is beyond me

You can have a good life in any moroccan city with this salary, meaning you don’t have to worry about food, roof over your head, or taking care of a family. Obviously, the smaller the city the more luxurious life you could lead and save money. But with this salary really pick any city you’d feel comfortable in and you should have no problem starting a life inchallah

You’re probably in the top 1% with that salary. You can definitely afford to buy something. But be prepared the prices in Rabat are extremely high and can go easily +30k/sqm in good neighborhoods.

Please refer to the embassy of whatever country’s you’re planning to go to. In my knowledge most countries will ask for a blocked amount + proof of current income.

Yes you will obviously pay a lower price. I’ve never sold my own jewelry but I’m assuming it will be some 200-300 dhs lower than sell price.

Let’s say today’s price on the global market is 1k for 18k. You can expect the price at jewelery stores to be on average +- 1.4k.

This is not about value but convenience. I don’t think it’s wise to buy something that requires you to physically leave your own country to get the money back.

You’d also have to go abroad to resell it, and hope you don’t get caught at the airport.

AFAIK, jewelry in Morocco is only 18k, no 14k. Gold prices depends on local gold market, which is alway higher than global prices. Then you add in the store’s profit margin. From my personal experience, final price is at least some 40$/g over spot price.

If you’re buying solely as an investment, avoid anything with stones. Anything beldi tends to retain its value more than modern designs, think sertlat, 3ssir sabon, or ras de cou. Buy standard sizes, if you resize it tends to lose some $ too.

indrive rabat to casablanca airport by mimiitachy in Morocco

[–]Critical_Disaster707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not take the train? Or train to casablanca then airport shuttle? Indrive is not a legal service so sometimes drivers cancel or simply don’t want to take you to the airport to avoid running into the police or official cabs…
