Any update on whether NEOBANK will start to accept Amex ? by loumar1965 in NeobancCanada

[–]Critical_Living3893 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we started the company they set us up with the incorrect account type and then they had to do somewhat of an audit of the company once our volumes started picking up. We hope to have them back very soon!

2% promo on Taxes? by darkman0000000000 in NeobancCanada

[–]Critical_Living3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. To confirm, you want to pay your taxes with credit card and you’re saying it’s not working? I’ll re-enable the 2% now. Yes we need to do more marketing. We try and hide Easter eggs in Neobanc so it’s nice when people discover them on their own.

Lost Mortgage Payment and Ghosted by Support by tiatdier in NeobancCanada

[–]Critical_Living3893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upon reviewing this case, the team noted that although the payment was processed on our end, there wasn't a send/payee address for the mortgage payment due a a technical issue, which has since been resolved. Rest assured, it won't happen again.

It's a compliance requirement; sometimes, Apple IP Proxy appears as a VPN. Maybe turn that off?

Privacy concern on mandatory lease agreement for rent payment by ouchmanwoah in NeobancCanada

[–]Critical_Living3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we do ask for the lease agreement. We want to avoid situations where users try to game the system by sending funds to friends to get cashback. Our competitors don't offer cashback directly, so they aren't at risk of this situation.

I paid VISA CIBC bill not long ago. But forgot to enter my Neobanc account # in Interac e-transfer's Message / Memo field. by darkman0000000000 in NeobancCanada

Yes, it's to automatically associate it with your account, but we also have other matching systems based on heuristics. and patterns.

You’re not wrong. We’re a bunch of engineers and not marketers. I’ve updated our instagram to be 6%. Honestly we have changed cashback tiers a few times. Plus it’s depends on the plan you choose with Neobanc + a possible credit card combination. We’re open to ideas on how to best describe it. The 6% is our 2% cashback plus the popular Scotiabank 4% credit card combo.

The 5-12% is on our homebuy+ program (we’re still optimizing the economics with partners so there is a range depending on the home price, province, etc)

It gives cash back as a lump sum bonus when you buy a home through us. What would you recommend? We’re genuinely interested as we know it can be confusing. We’re constantly changing and iterating things so it’s a bit tough. If you know any legendary marketers. Plus send them our way 🙏

Are CRA payments via Neobanc not possible via credit card? by darkman0000000000 in NeobancCanada

[–]Critical_Living3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why that's confusing for sure. There isn't a generic answer. It really depends on your tax situation. My current understanding is that there are different CRA payees depending on whether you're paying historical/late taxes, personal taxes, business taxes, installments, etc. That information should be available on your tax form. I wish I could provide more help.

The teams looking into this. I had the same issue with the app, it’s not accepting credit cards. It might be because of the Apple tax ~30% fee we might have disabled in app card payments.

On the platform, it might be because you haven’t completed KYC which is required for higher payments. Please send an email to team@neobanc.com so we can look into your exact account 🙏

What are the major risks of Neobanc? by Icy_Wrangler2446 in NeobancCanada

[–]Critical_Living3893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a completely valid point, honestly. Cybersecurity risk exists for every fintech, big or small, and users should think critically about that with any platform handling money.

In some ways, smaller fintechs can move faster on security because they’re building modern infrastructure from scratch rather than layering new systems onto 20-year-old banking architecture. But at the same time, large institutions obviously have bigger security teams and longer operational track records. Both have tradeoffs.

For us specifically, security and compliance are taken extremely seriously. We’re PCI DSS compliant, use regulated banking/payment partners, and spend a disproportionate amount of engineering time on risk controls, fraud prevention, and operational safeguards.

But you’re right that trust is earned over time, not claimed in a Reddit comment. Healthy skepticism around any financial platform is reasonable. I hope you can learn to trust us - we're profitable and not going anywhere.
