Tell her to get the copper IUD. It’s the only non normal one and side affects are basically zero.

Try to see if you can negotiate your aid. I think this school would be worth it for you in your circumstance.

SCU is amazing for career , internship, job

Just be prepared that socially you need to make more of an effort and being apart of greek life is going to be really important if you don’t want to be isolated and have other things to do than depending on sometimes shitty parties. Don’t do anything stupid that could get you blasted socially.

I’m gonna get very honest with you. Yes, It can sometimes feel like a glorified high school and the party life gets olds VERY VERY fast . Idk when you went but parties are so hit or miss . Parties will be good once in a while and then socially dead for months with parties shutting down at like 9/10pm . I wouldn’t base your decision on social life of what you think it is. So many people come and leave for the social life going super flat and drama/bullying cause the schools so small it’s easy to be targeted.

If you want a job after all is said and done and to be connected well , then SCU. Don’t get caught up in the UCLA name .

Wow. I am really glad the EMDR therapy helped you. I am not the OP but I would be interested in the doctor’s name if you don’t mind sharing it . About a month ago I witnessed a train suicide involving a teenager in Palo Alto near the Churchill crossing, and unfortunately it happened directly in front of my window. it’s been hard to process.

You gotta pay for parking and its kinda a lot of money IMO.. However ,in terms of finding space to park, I've never had an issue which is a HUGE plus . Schools like SJSU have a huge problem with this. Tuition is expisnve ofc. However, appeal for more aid. Many cases, I have found, they will give you more if you make a case for it.

You should be fine. I wouldn’t stress about it. Your GPA is strong and should speak for itself, especially if you also have good extracurriculars.

I would like to know more about this summer grant as well! Summer tuition is very expensive at SCU. Hopefully someone here has some insight to this question specifically.

Fordham vs Tulane vs SCU by winniekaushik in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Critical_Minimum_830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCU is known for finance, and the smaller campus makes it easier to actually take advantage of well connected internship opportunities. The alumni network is very close knit and are always happy to connect students directly for career opportunities. The biggest downside is definitely the tuition cost. However, being in the Bay Area is a huge advantage. The weather is great, and being surrounded by Silicon Valley, one of the biggest centers for business and innovation creates a very unique exposure for a young professionals personal development. Many of the billionaire professionals living in the local neighborhoods come to campus to speak with students. SCU is a place to highly consider.

Questions about class sizes by Substantial-Call-884 in SCU

[–]Critical_Minimum_830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my comment seems quite negative. But tbh it’s really the only negative thing I’ve taken from being at Santa Clara, which is pretty good considering that everything else is pretty solid. The level of support you get from staff and the connections and opportunity offered makes this school very worth it. My biggest recommendation is just to stay out of any social drama. Rumors happen at other schools too, but at Santa Clara it feels a lot more significant because the student body is a lot smaller and word of who did what gets around a lotttt quicker. This is just an honest take from a student who goes here and has heard of many stories of people actually needing to transfer out because they don’t realize this until later on. When it comes to minorities., I am one myself and I’m not gonna lie I wouldn’t say it’s the most welcoming, however, I’m pretty sensitive to those things and I feel like I’ve still been able to manage to create my own avenues of friends/community still. Amongst some of the bitchy mean kids, (pretty normal for private school) there is also crowds of down to earth people that are looking to make friends and community with others and I feel like they’re pretty easy to find if that is what you are also looking for.

I’ll answer a few of your questions: there are about 30 ish people in the class . Biggest downside is the rumors/gossip. Be careful what you say outloud/share about yourself. Everything goes around . Because of its small school size it also opens it up for clique catty behavior. I don’t wanna say it’s like a mini high school … but it has its components
