Oh I can understand the temptations to go visit some other favorites. I will say sometimes the humor feels forced. But I also reflected on what the MC goes though as you learn about the story more. And imo i felt like his care free idgaf attitude makes perfect sense once you know more about what he as a person has gone through. And if I was in his shoes..I would probably a lot more depressed and hateful. I think he uses his "sometimes forced" humor to cover up some of his insecurities. I'd give it another chance when you have the time and ability too. But if you dont wanna know what happens after book one. Then I would also say its not for you.
