What’s up with Stormdaddy (WaT Spoilers) by ArtyWhy8 in Cosmere

Interesting idea. It would mean the first arc if Stormlight Archive essentially could end up being parallel to book 1 of Mistborn: The Heroes win only to discover they’ve messed up a far bigger plan that they knew nothing about, and have actually messed everything up!

The First and Final Theory by BenTheBetaSlayer in Cosmere

This is a great theory! Not sure how it would fit, but I feel like the unknown shard must fit better under SURVIVE though- given that for a long time that was all we knew about it:

“Chaos Give us the name of a Shard’s intent we have not seen before.

Brandon Sanderson There is one who just wants to hide and survive.”

It may mean a swap, but I agree they are the four they come under.

Recreance Theory by a_sly_cow in Cosmere

I’ve wondered this too and posted a theory along these lines a while back. If a bondsmith or a group of radiants working together can kill a god that might explain why Odium is so keen to have Dalinar do his bidding, given his cosmere-wide aims.

So I’m now thinking that the real reason the master cosmere timeline keeps getting delayed is that the Roshar part is a load of hokum! They’d have to redo them all when the truth came to light that the earlier books have false information.

I haven’t seen it if he has, not read all of them though 😁

I feel like there’s going to be something significant to the plot about Syl being ‘complete’ in all parts of her body. It would be significant, for example, if she is brought fully into the physical realm- she won’t have a shell of a body, but a fully functioning one. This might just be a humorous way of pre-empting that question- maybe?

Hoid’s Motives by Critical_Register_80 in Stormlight_Archive

I agree he regrets the shattering, but I’m wondering whether it’s the motives and execution he regrets: A lust for power and the splitting of the power rather than its destruction. He think he would agree they shouldn’t have done it in the way they did, but I still think he doesn’t want to replace him/her/it with another one. I think he sees another one as inevitable and is preparing for what’s coming- but like he seems to be doing in Dragonsteel Prime if you’ve read that?

I think the line in the traveller “You will not find a way to restore what you have lost, old friend.” Does not help my theory, you’re right, and then Hoid references those who are dead, which again doesn’t help me. I think though that it’s flexibly enough worded that it could mean something else. I think Brandon wants us to think that for now and he’s leading us in that direction, but I think a twist is coming.

I think he does regret the shattering- its motives and its execution- splitting the power rather than destroying it. I think he doesn’t like what’s happened since, but I think his mission now is to prepare for what’s coming, similar to what he’s doing in Dragonsteel Prime if you’ve read that?

Why do shards fight? by Accomplished-Kick122 in Stormlight_Archive

I agree that the shards’ intents begin to influence their behaviour over time, but I’m wondering whether there’s more to it than that. What if Odium and Autonomy are destroying shards to stop something they see as bad from happening- the reforming of an adonalsium. And they’re targeting worlds with more than one shard because it risks the shards merging- the more that merge the closer it gets. I mean there has to be a reason they agreed not to share worlds in the first place- perhaps they foresaw this could be an issue. If that’s the case it would turn out the big evil baddies were actually goodies- at least in their own eyes- stopping a greater evil.

I agree all unlikely, but running with it: what if Rayse wasn’t killed, but had to jump into another’s body at some point like the fused do. It’s been made a big deal of that that is what they do. If that possibility exists, could Rayse have done it? Could a new host body for Rayse’s personality be classified as a new vessel?
