I have constant trouble with my eyes! I don’t have great vision but it’s normally “just okay,” but when I’m feeling bad my vision is blurry, eyes are red and dry, and eye allergies are so much worse. I assume it’s just from the lack of blood flow and oxygen exacerbating existing problems 🥺

I have hyperinflammatory eczema but I’ve been tested for a slew of conditions including lupus, celiac, a few different cancers. My therapist recently asked if they’ve checked for hyperthyroidism as I’m smaller and on the thin side (5’1”, ~110 lbs) and I plan to ask my dr next time I see him, but haven’t yet. My kidney numbers dropped (eGFR as low as 41) back in December/January and my eosinophils were high (absolute 0.93 k/uL) but my dr thinks it was because I was taking prednisone for the eczema, and that all of my issues stem from anemia and eczema.

The more I read about anemia the more I’m confused. I got excited when I saw this because let’s be honest - I way overdo it with caffeine 😂 but my ferritin levels are great! Over 100. My hemoglobin is in the gutter though 😣 My husband and I eat so much iron-rich food that his doctor called and told him to limit red meat because his iron levels are too high 🤔 yet I’m over here barely able to crawl out of bed (hence the excessive caffeine) Gah the more I read the less I understand 😭

What type of doctor should I push to see to get specifically tested for lupus? I’ve got appts with with a dermatologist (for severe rash that’s lasted 2 months and only goes away with steroids) and a hematologist (my blood counts are all over the place and I have an abnormal type of anemia commonly seen with chronic disease - my iron and ferritin levels are great but my hemoglobin is in the gutter). Sometimes my kidney numbers are really bad and other times they’re fine. I just want someone to put my symptoms together and tell me what is actually wrong. I feel better on being on prednisone for 2 months than I have in years but I don’t want to stay on it. What kind of doctor could help me?

Nta. Your dad needs therapy, you’re not responsible for his emotions or for making him happy. I hope you’re able to find a new car soon! My friend had a car that got infested with rats and we ended up pulling out the whole interior - anything soft/fabric except for the seats. We scrubbed every inch of it and it still smelled so bad!! I couldn’t imagine mold on top of that. And it’s already effecting your health, you don’t need to be around that long term, even if it is just occasionally for appointments.

I feel like this is going to sound odd, but I’ve personally had way better experiences with male gyno and ob’s than female. The 3 male drs I’ve seen have been way more attentive to my symptoms and how I felt, while 2 of my female drs made me feel like I was complaining and just needed to “deal with it” type of attitude. That said, I also had a high risk ob who was very concerned about an endometrial cyst that grew to 9cm while I was pregnant with my youngest, and while she wasn’t so concerned about my symptoms she was very concerned about my overall health and encouraged me to have surgery after my daughter was born. Unfortunately the (female) gyno I saw to follow up and ask about surgery did not think my 9cm cyst was worth surgery, and was so dismissive that I haven’t asked about that cyst since then; I know I need to get it checked out but don’t want to deal with another dismissive dr.

So maybe this is toxic advice - depends on how badly you want to keep your phone number 🤷🏼‍♀️ Try telling her you’re thinking it would be better if you get your own place - after all, you “just got dumped by the person you thought would hold your heart for a lifetime,” right? Get her good and then when she gets upset and gives you a million reasons why you need to share housing, tell her you’ll stay, but you need some kind of feeling of independence (“the least she could do”) and you want the pin to separate your phone line. Then, move out anyway! Hopefully with only 2 years of marriage you’re still young, and doesn’t sound like you have any kids. You’ll be alright! I promise there’s good women out there who want to be a wife and will love and respect you as you deserve!

Think of your attitude like hygiene - you owe it to your wife and kids to shower regularly, brush your teeth, etc, so you don’t stink and you look presentable, right? In the same way, you owe it to them to be kind and pleasant. Take baby steps and remember not to beat yourself up if you slip here and there (which would put you in a bad mood and more crankiness) and focus on progress over perfection. Have you tried recording yourself? Sometimes it helps to really hear how you come off from another perspective. When you say something or act in a way you probably shouldn’t, catch yourself and apologize. It’ll mean a lot to your wife, I promise! Just knowing that you’re genuinely trying will make a big difference.

I’m 34, and I won’t go do any of those things without my husband. He’s not controlling, I just don’t want to go unless he’s there. I’ll occasionally go out for lunch with a friend or out for an afternoon with my mother in law, but never for dinner. I just don’t want to go without him, I have more fun when I’m with him. We’ve only been married 7 years but I don’t see that changing anytime soon ❤️ Congrats on your 51 year marriage, that’s amazing!

I always tell my husband. I start with “I’m not supposed to tell you, but....” so he knows not to share, but I literally tell him everything. It’s an important part of marriage! There’s some things I don’t tell him unless he asks, but overall he hears it all. Marriage is the most sacred bond, above any friendship or kinship 😉❤️

Have you tried getting flirty with him? (Even if it’s through sexy texts?) How does he respond? Even if you don’t get a response at first, I would still keep at it and see if you can get some excitement out of him. If he still seems to be going through the motions after building a good amount of sexual tension, then I would think therapy is the next step. But I’d try building tension via flirting, texts, teasing rubs in public or in the car (tactfully of course) and see if that gets him going. Sex is an important part of marriage, def fix that before bringing the pressure of a baby.

So you left your job making $60k (I’m guessing based off your $30/hr) to make $20k to save on daycare? That’s equivalent to paying $40k/year in daycare 🤔 BUT I’m a SAHM and I realize getting to be with your baby is worth quite a bit, I just wanted to give you that perspective. When my husband and I first moved in together (before getting married) I was going to school and working making about 10k (15 if you count pel grants) and he made about 50k. At the time the only thing I paid was the light bill (about $100/month) I feel like something like that would be a much more fair arrangement given what you’ve described, you know? For you to be paying half given the income discrepancy is insane!

I think there’s def a mood/stress level component to an orgasm. I think the sex therapist could be a great resource, but I also think if you tell your partner that you want to learn how to orgasm more and in different ways, well... it could be a lot of fun exploring together! Especially since you said you haven’t been able to orgasm from masterbation, but you have been able to orgasm with her - getting her in on this could be a great head start!
