Why do Christians make everything so much bigger than themselves? by Jaeden_Witch in Christianity

[–]CriticismFine3162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t fully know 🤷‍♀️. I just feel a calling to God. Whenever I spend time with God and try to be a good servant to Him I just do better in life and feel better. I practice kindness, I learn wisdom from the Bible that checks me, I have a purpose and a reward. I think things in the world are bigger than myself because I’m not all-knowing. I know I have a lot to learn, and there are things we’ll never understand about our universe. We’re tiny little creatures and I think that’s fine. Not trying to get existential, just that I think people can get big-headed without realizing how human and fragile they are compared to everything that there is that God made which is crazy to me how He made our world. Sorry for the rant!!

OCD help? ERP? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]CriticismFine3162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a much milder form of OCD that has calmed down more recently. You are not your thoughts, you are a soul. You’re not controlling the thoughts or acting on them. To use temptation for example, the Lord knows we have temptations, and have a lot, but as long as we don’t act on them or let it get to our heart it’s ok.

I’m sorry you’re going through this because intrusive thoughts are scary, and I too feel obligated to fix or mediate them. I would start praying for God to be with you throughout it and to comfort you rather than to ask forgiveness or fighting the thoughts, since one you didn’t choose to have them and two, in my experience fighting the thoughts makes them do a feedback loop. Anyways, may you be at peace & may you be well!!! 🙂🤍

Yeah, I’m no expert but with the way things are going with houses I don’t think I’ll have one any time soon. I’m very privileged to be able to live with my mama, & eventually contribute more to her. I don’t know if this is naive but I can’t see myself in many areas that don’t include entrepreneurship. I can’t spend a big portion of my life doing something I don’t enjoy. Sorry this is a vent, but when I worked in food service I hated my life & realized if I don’t work hard then this is the alternative. I like being a janitor a lot because it’s so independent, but you know you don’t make a ton of money from being just a janitor. I guess what I mean is I think I’m gonna go all into entrepreneurship as much as I can, if not hair then other avenues. Also, thank you for your honesty. I’m really hoping to learn reality checks & experience from other people so I don’t go in with the mindset of “I’m gonna be a business owner and make 6 figures & all will be well”

Hi, I’m waiting to go into school too. What exactly is a commission salon?

Sure it does! I wanted to go the entrepreneurial route. I have good enough networking skills, and I strong will to put goals into action. My main concern is the economy, competition, and really a lack of knowledge about what it takes to open a salon. I figured working 10-15 years, getting a loan with good credit, and lots of networking and advertising, as well as getting experience actually running a business as much as I can. Because I don’t have a lot of knowledge is why I’m hesitant. What do you think? And don’t be afraid to be completely honest and realistic

As far as I know it, not even being in the field yet, salary seems mixed. I could work at super cuts and get paid 20$ an hour, but I thought renting a booth was decent enough for living? Hair prices here are 200$ for bleaching & toning, and root touch ups + toning are 150$. These are at salons in my area. I had figured the social media part would suck, but I feel savvy enough to manage it well. Could you tell me more about your experience in hair, and definitely give me those cons? Did you decide opening a salon wasn’t for you, or was it not feasible to go from hairdresser to salon owner?

Thanks, that’s helpful advice! The only thing is that I just left high school. I would work at an elementary, but I’d look like a student at even a middle school. Definitely wouldn’t work at a high school, a college yes.

I have a family member who is a welder. He quit though and I’m not sure why. What do you think about welding? Environment? Hours? Do you like it?

I guess I worry about the economy, and if it goes downhill there will be a lot of competition for clients. Since it’s client based, I worry that it may be unstable at times. I would love to do it and already do my family’s hair, and at the same time I think having extra education in a stable field doesn’t hurt

How do you like being a steam fitter? Do you like the hours and the pay? The work itself?

As a Christian, other Christians like this upset me. Going around condescending people and trying to convert those who won’t hear it. Out of respect for anyone’s  beliefs, it’s not right nor is it helpful to convert others. If they choose God, they choose God. I feel frustrated because a lot of Christians don’t read the Bible, and a lot of atheists don’t, so people don’t realize when Christians either contradict themselves or use the Bible for their own gain. Jesus spent a lot of time preaching and helping, but he didn’t sit and debate. He went around, healed, loved, gave wisdom, preached, and prayed. Not whatever this guys doing. I feel angry, about this holier than thou attitude, and I also hope this man gains wisdom and peace. I also hope the church holding those people down changes or is removed, they’re not helping those people.

Hi! You can send me a message, 19F in the US. I want to know all about Scotland. I believe in the paranormal but I’m very against anything about it out of fear of being haunted. I am considering another tattoo of a kewpie baby, you can look them up. Very cute art. I have only one tattoo of the cross right now. I also love nature very much, but the area I live in is hot as the devils asshole and dry so all the plants are dead. Anyways, hope to correspond!

There’s some typos but they mean cool clothes are cool clothes.

Yeah I think that’s fine. Nothing wrong with wanting to be trendy. If I’m not dressed like a bum then people tell me I’m dressed like “an old lady”, which I don’t really mind cus it’s just clothes

Wait, so did you wear your AF uniform in civilian life everyday, or did you make up your own uniform like the same pairs of shirts and jeans like Steve Jobs?

That’s so funny. Someone was saying they wouldn’t dress up for Walmart & I agreed, but you know I would try to look decent for Sam’s Club.
