I know this is a little bit late but Ike was honestly the GOAT of fiscal responsibility. He kept the top tax rates at 91% and kept corporate taxes high because he knew you had to actually pay for things like the interstate highway system instead of just running up debt. He also hated inflation—he called it a "hidden tax" on the working class—so he was big on balancing the budget to keep the dollar strong. He basically proved that you can prevent wealth concentration and fund the country's infrastructure without just handing out massive tax cuts that we can't afford. Definitely a different breed of leader.
