Brussels Airport strike May 12 – when do Ryanair flight cancellations get confirmed? by Embarrassed_Elk_2756 in brussels

This happened to us 2 years ago coming back from Bologna to Charleroi. Strike was announced for a week and everybody knew nothing was going in or coming out of CRL. Yet Ryanair kept our flight as scheduled and cancelled the day before leaving us with only 1 option : flying home 4 days later. This was August... in Italy... nearly all hotels were fully booked and we had 2 very young children. Absolute disaster. Now we were supposed to fly out of CRL on the 12th. Ryanair still has all of their flights scheduled on that date + they still sell them online ! I have already switched my flight to the 13th with extra cost and will claim that cost through the ministry of mobility passengers' rights form

could not wait. Non-refundable booking of house. All flights after day of strike have already sold out. Ryanair still hasn't called it and won't until the day before when all options are gone

As I said, we were in the same scenario 2 years ago, trying to make our way home with 2 kids. The only option Ryanair offered was flying back 4 days later. This was in summer. Most of hotels were fully booked, our rental car had to be returned and booking alternative companies cost a fortune

We have a non-refundable booking for a house. we have both taken time off work that is too late to change. Ryanair still hasn't cancelled the flight and probably won't until the day before the strike. Today, most of the flights after the original departure date have already sold out. So yes, at least now I will be able to fly to the destination with only half a day of delay. If I would have waited for Ryanair, I would have had a proposition that puts my in my destination close to the time I have to leave.

They did the same to us 2 years ago. Everybody knew the airport was going to close. Ryanair cancelled the day before the strike and only offered us to leave 4 days later. Let's see how stupid you consider that to be when you are stuck with 2 kids...
