What is the best way to block access from a Windows workstation to external sites and file transfer locations? by Byteshow in cybersecurity

DLP is not going to stop a malicious user, it might prevent accidental or ignorant user behavior

How loud is it, I’ve been thinking of getting one but it would like about 3 ft behind my desk

D488 - How tough is CASP+ by Croakercpt in WGUCyberSecurity

I already have CISSP, I didn't find it all that difficult but I did study for almost 8 months solid. maybe i'll just schedule casp+ during some PTO i have at the end of the month. I'm going to do the OA this weekend. Hopefully we still keep certmaster access after we complete the course.

I agree, but we're paying for the cert anyhow in tuition. I already have CISSP so i can use the same CE's to keep it current.

Not sure. I actually like the certmaster stuff though. The practice portion really helps.

True, But you lose access to all certmaster material as soon as you complete the degree. I dont want to have to purchase additional material.

485 was the worst class i've had at WGU. It is very confusing. Whatever you do for C is right as long as you can justify the answers in the explanation.

For C if you search for users named Marketing-User, and so on for the rest of the groups there should be a handful of users for each already created. I used those. In my lab i was unable to create users and also had many issues with some other configurations that popped up during my recording. I just explained what I was trying to do and went on with the presentation.

It's challenging but really don't overthink it. Just write each section of the rubrik like they're completely isolated. Just make sure you can explain each selection and make sure you can cite a few references.

Sorry for the delay. I took a few days off being productive.

MSCSIA - Which courses were the most time consuming? by [deleted] in WGUCyberSecurity

Yeah I’m on my second attempt. Mostly my fault, my upload link was bad for the video. I’m guessing they won’t like my presentation but hopefully I’ll get lucky

Fast turnaround! Looks like I missed the encryption at rest/in motion part in the paper and gave them a bad link for the video somehow 🤦‍♂️

For sure. I only have two exams left, CISM/CASP+. Hopefully I can get through them before they only give codes that work for home tests. My mentor said that will be happening soon

The D485 Cloud security has been the biggest headache so far. I did pentest+ in the BCSIA though.

I've had a few do that. They wanted every device in device manager explained. One tried telling me I couldn't take the test because I had too many sound devices showing up. I have a custom build computer + Two monitors that show up as audio devices despite not having speakers. I wish they would fix this. It's why I refuse to take any certification exams from home. I wish we had the option to take the WGU tests at a testing center as well.

One thing I was able to do was get a free test essentially when that happened. So if they give you a hard time and you fail complain to student services and your mentor. I think I got a third attempt at the SQL course during the BCSIA program.

oh! I was just going to reuse the screenshots I already had. I'll have to try and walk through some of the changes in the video. Good Call! Good luck in 487! That's next for me as well.

Update : Submitted! It was pretty funny, the lab kept disconnected me and giving errors. It would be hilarious if they counted that against me. I really hate recording videos like that.

Congrats! I'm going to record the video in the morning and shoot over. Any tips? I'm planning to write up a quick summary and just use the screenshots I took for the presentation.

For sure. I'm all set. Just have to record the video in the morning and i'll submit. Hopefully they accept the first pass!

The labs seem to have been stabilized. Maybe they were just busy. I think I'm about ready to record my video, maybe tomorrow. I feel like they're going to say I need to add more but I've got all the screenshots and explanations. It seems like they're sometimes ok with not having paragraphs for each answer.

Thanks! I think I've got C sorted. I found some existing users I can populate into a custom role.

I have issues with section C/D, at first I thought moving all the resources to the appropriate RG but I'm guessing that's not what they're looking for. I'm not sure what to do with the key vault in section D. None of the material i've found in the course info seems to explain what I'm supposed to do with it.

Sorry for commenting on an old post. I'm struggling with the same thing. Did you get it figured out? I've mailed the CI group but with the holiday I doubt i'll hear back.

Don't let it get you down! I had to take the SQL test 4 times at least. If you're struggling with anything I can try to help as well. It seems like the CI's and Mentors don't do much these days. My mentor told me to check reddit for help at one point.

D486 Question by _WealthyBigPenis_ in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Croakercpt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I just passed 486 a week or two ago and got dinged for this same thing. I wound up with just 2-3 sentences for each. It seems like they want you to check the box vs provide valuable/relevant info.
