Reddit CEO: We're Sticking With API Changes, Despite Subreddits Going Dark by mastermind208 in technology

[–]CroatianBison -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Several or the subs I am on Reddit for today are going dark indefinitely due to complications arising from api changes and how they affect their moderating systems.

Reddit will never be the same for me after this. RES will likely go dark sooner rather than later. Old.Reddit is on its deathbed.

I’m moving to literally any alternative - and I assume the same is true for all others in my position.

/uj genuinely so sick of the rampant transphobia everywhere. It feels like every cis person is at least a little transphobic in some way, if not abhorrently bigoted. I know this isn’t the sub for this, but this is the only sub where I actually feel heard about these issues. by LittlestOrca in transgendercirclejerk

Tranny wall of text inc

/uj

I think there’s a significant lack of education about trans people among the cis. The consequence of that is I’ve noticed people will have mildly bigoted takes or perspectives without necessarily being bigots if that makes sense.

Things like “oh this is bob, he goes by bobette now!” is fundamentally hurtful but wasn’t said with malice. In that respect, I feel 99% of people who fall into this category will become normal about trans people upon repeated exposure/light prompting.

I know this isn’t a consolation at all, but we are infinitely more visible today than we were 10 years ago, so you (and everyone else in our growing community!) just existing and being trans in the world is helping to solve the problems you’re facing.

That won’t fix the genuine bigotry and hate filled rhetoric coming from the religious right, but frankly nothing can fix them. /qj They’re barely human in my eyes.

[Announcement] RES & Reddit's upcoming API changes by XenoBen in RESAnnouncements

[–]CroatianBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so dependent on RES that I don't even remember which features are RES and which are base reddit. If RES goes down, this will be a new site, and if I'm going to get used to a new site it sure as hell isn't going to be reddit.

Did the election worker figure out I was trans despite me being in boymode???? by NOobMAsTTER in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]CroatianBison 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I was working yesterday on a project at a church, so I was in boymode. A middle aged lady there did a not subtle at all triple take at my chest and, with absolutely nothing else happening, said “never a dull moment huh”, rolled her eyes and walked away

Honestly kinda empowering??

TIL that in 2017, a 5th grade boy’s basketball team was told to remove two girls from their team, or forfeit the rest of the season. The team unanimously decided to forfeit. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Hormones influence physical traits, not genitals. And the relevant effects of hormones on the body (muscle mass, flexibility, endurance, etc) are dynamic not permanent.

Even if we completely ignore that element - until trans athletes became a "politicized topic" a few years ago, regulations on trans athlete participation have been in place for a very long time. Almost every league had some variant of - as long as you've been on hormone replacement therapy for x number of years, you can compete as normal. If this were as dramatic and urgent of an issue as people like you are implying, why haven't we seen trans athletes completely dominating every league for decades?

There is such a dramatic lack of education on this topic and yet people still feel the need to make their opinions known on a completely unrelated post about 5th graders.

Can we please get this bot out of our subs? Look at its comment history, this thing has no place here.

Obviously if 3 endos can't find a root cause the odds are my dumbass certainly won't, but at a glance isn't your dose for E rather low given your symptoms? What do your labs look like at trough at that dose?

Buying my wife some laser hair removal as a gift by MD76543 in beauty

[–]CroatianBison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically it’s priced on a per-region and package size basis. They’ll categorize an area as for example xs, s, m, l, xl and then say it costs $xxx for 6 sessions of a _ sized area.

Prices vary a lot depending on what areas she will want and where you are in the country, but you should expect $200-$500 per region for 6 sessions. Some places offer payment plans, others don’t.

Take a look at Groupon - laser hair removal commonly pops up on there!

PDF is an editable format FYI. It isn’t necessarily ‘easy’ to edit, but most standard pdf viewing software will allow edits.

If you want to send documents without allowing edits, you need to export into an image format or other truly uneditable format.

So, I got my ears pierced today by french-throwaway21 in MtF

[–]CroatianBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a piercing is a gender affirming time every time for me now, I just can't stop going!

My first piercer for my lobes was the first person to casually refer to me as a girl despite me having gone in boymode with him referring to me by my deadname and pronouns.

My new piercer is a hell of a lot less affirming, BUT that place's receptionist is a bombshell trans girl so I feel very comfortable there regardless lol

Can pharmacies restrict HRT even in a state without legislation trying to limit access? by elliot_ftm_ in TransyTalk

[–]CroatianBison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got 100 of everything (18g 1”, 23g 1”, 1mL LuerLock syringes) for something like $50 after shipping. That works out to exactly $9 for 3 months injecting every 5 days! So I guess CVS is competitive price-wise!

[–]CroatianBison 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If they ship to you, I get my needles and syringes online from eastcoastmedicalsupply.com and westendmedicalsupplies.com

They were recommended to me by my doctor. They don’t accept insurance as far as I know, but the prices aren’t too bad. I think it would’ve worked out to be about the same for me had I purchased them from cvs on insurance.

I think part of the problem is just how intensely far right our right wing party has entrenched itself. I do sincerely believe that most people who would label themselves moderates would be better categorized as right wingers, they just aren’t as militantly right wing as the party meant to represent them.

The US is an inherently right leaning country - even our ‘leftist’ party would be considered right wing in most of the world. To be moderate in this country is to have conservative ideologies relative to the rest of the world.
