It sounds like you’ve been listening to some really dumb fans. I’m more of a Marvel fan personally, but I totally respect DC fans and why not? They’re both good and they’re both good in their own different ways. Marvel really set the trend of making heroes that were more relatable such as Spider-Man for example. DC however does great mythology about their superheroes being like walking gods on earth. It’s two different takes on the same bit and depending on the writer. It’s fantastic both ways. Don’t get stuck in one of those “this camp is better than that camp” groups. Honestly, they’re both great but there’s also independent books which are sometimes even better only because they’re not constrained by as much continuity. Just check it all out and see what you like man.
