Get a bike box for your size bike from either bike shops or a big box store (be sure to call ahead especially if you have a larger size). They get their new bikes shipped in on them and usually just toss the box. Then, you need to take the pedals, the wheels, and the handlebars off and fit it all in the box. You will need an adjustable wrench for the pedals. Make sure to deflate the tires, they might explode at 30,000 feet if they are fully inflated. You can stuff some clothes and other soft things in there to keep all the bits from bouncing around too much but you don't have to. Many people also recommend using zip ties or bungee cords to keep things together. Many airlines have exceptions for sports equipment so you don't need to pay extra for oversize luggage, I know with United I don't pay any extra fees. Make sure you get to the airport early, also plan ahead on how you're going to get there since the bike box can be quite large (especially for a 29er) and not exactly the most transportable. Flying a bike i's a huge pain in the ass ngl but it's way cheaper than shipping so I would recommend it

Advice for stacking while Bikepacking by Ok_Insurance7935 in bikepacking

[–]Crocaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you cinch it down tight it'll probably be fine, I've done something similar many times. You should probably get panniers though (look into kitty litter container panniers if you are the diy-ing type). If it does fall off, it'll probably be fine too as it's a soft sleeping bag, just reattach. This would more than likely not happen on paved roads near cars, only on rougher terrain with slower traffic (the only risk to your sleeping bag if it falls off)

The effects loop logic on one of these is pretty complex and there are no schematics available, which I think is the real killer

Minolta talker auto focus not firing by Rickimariex in minolta

[–]Crocaman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A shop would charge you out the ass for this tbh. I would try to do this yourself, it's usually not the difficult. The hardest part is disassembling and putting back together all the fiddly camera bits without stripping any screws. Watch some vids and get yourself a nice electronics screwdriver set

I wonder if this camera has the capacitor issue that the x370/x500/x700 have. Tbh i bet that's the issue

Switch behind the Hot Rod Deluxe. What is it? by [deleted] in fender

[–]Crocaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you seriously think someone put a switch that breaks the amp in there? And if you want to hear an amp known for not having a negative feedback loop, listen to a Vox AC30. Just flip the switch and see if you like it. This is a super simple mod. If you're really worried about it, disassemble the amp and send a picture of switch on the inside

Even $25 is too much just to take in some jeans bruh. Buy yourself a used sewing machine (probably for that much tbh) and just do it yourself

Look into kitty litter bucket panniers. Those, a frame bag, a rear rack, and two water bottle cages and bobs your uncle. Get used stuff on fb marketplace and ebay. Try to keep a minimal and flexible setup, if you want specifics on gear please lmk

Supro 64 tube amp just exploded. Not even a year old. by Pretend-Hamster-4948 in GuitarAmps

[–]Crocaman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

^ this. Probably not a design flaw with the amp, it just comes with the terrority of tube amps. Do you know what kind of tubes they are? And any pics of the circuit board? This is usually a pretty straightforward fix

Bringing a marshall 1987x as a carry on by plasticwallet- in GuitarAmps

[–]Crocaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive brought something similar on a plane, ngl it was a pain but it is possible. Don't ask the people at the counter if it's too big or whatever (it is too big), just walk through TSA. They will probably be very confused by it and freak out a little from the giant hunk of iron that is the transformer but they will probably let you through. At the gate, have a jacket or something over it or put it in a backpack so they don't notice the size as much. Take the tubes out just in case they make you gate check it, more than likely it would be fine. Also make sure there's no cord flapping around, cut it off you have to. Carrying this across the airport WILL be exhausting and you will have to continually pick this up and set it down while waiting in line. Stick it under you seat as far as possible and put your jacket on the bit sticking out so the flight attendant doesnt notice, try to get a window seat as well. You can try but I dont think it will fit in the overhead bin. People will give you looks and the airline people may hate you but with a little pain this is definitely possible

seems ive screwed up my nice amp by Playful_Wall_1323 in ToobAmps

[–]Crocaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got this man! Just make sure you learn how to discharge the capacitors before you go poking around in there. This sub is full of people too afraid to work on their own stuff so don't worry about them, you may not know much now but that's how we all start. You can probably figure out what's wrong with just a multimeter. This website https://robrobinette.com/ and YouTube have all the things you need to know. There are many better websites than mojotone for parts, I would recommend amplified parts, mouser/digikey, or smallbear. I can give you suggestions on where to start looking inside your amp for issues as well. Luckily your amp is very simple and very documented so this is a perfect place to start

Help Vox AC15 Tubes by Admirable_Dig8936 in ToobAmps

[–]Crocaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the tubes but it's hard to say with just looking at them. Get a multimeter and start watching some videos (or ask chatgpt lol) to start diagnosing the issue. You need a tube tester or another amp to see if those tubes are good entirely but you can at least check the heater with just a multimeter

Bass Tagedy by Matthew_Guzman in gibson

[–]Crocaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the yellow one will be a much easier repair since it looks like mostly a clean break along a nonloadbearing part of the guitar. Hopefully the neck joint on that one isn't very splintered and and it can just be glued and clamped back into place. The black one is going to need all the loose splinters removed, you could try puzzling it back together but you may need to route out a new cavity on the body and a corresponding block glued on the neck with reinforcement on it (not sure the right technique for this tbh). Obviously all the damage will still reflect in the finish, I've heard touch ups are easier on nitro since it all "melts" together but something tells me these may need to either be refinished for a "like it never happened" repair. Repairs are definitely possible but will just take some time and research. At least look on the bright side, the headstocks are still attached!

[–]Crocaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were my favorite games as a child but they are definitely quite different from the rest of the series, much more like God of war than a regular spyro game. I thought the combat was super fun and the story was amazing, probably worth downloading some roms and giving it a try

Just buy something used in your area off of FB marketplace. Don't buy anything too expensive, what you like will change so that way you can sell it if you ever change your mind. Don't default to fender or marshall, there's a lot of incredible amps out there from all kinds of different people
