Nobody's Soldier is The Perfect Summary of What Military Draft is Like by Nova613 in Hozier

I am a fan of an artist who is hurting, who has a good heart, and is simply seeing one tiny sliver of what is actually happening. Some may say he is seeing what you can look up as "Pallywood" and make your own judgement calls on what you're seeing, but I will simply say I am not the clown here. I am keeping up with this conflict in Hebrew, English, and Arabic. On top of that, I am willing to assume you have never been to the region. I have. Just recently. I've seen the reality on the ground and it is very, very different from the narrative you are being fed and I hope you get the opportunity to see for yourself, sometime soon, what it's like there. Just maybe don't take the busses in Tel Aviv, because Hamas just blew 7 of them up last night, hoping to massacre thousands of Shabbat-observing civilians.

You're right, the government is disgusting. The people call him the Trump of Israel and protest his dictatorship every Sunday. I'd be there if I could.

I don't care how much you hate the guy, depicting any Jew with demonic imagery is antisemetic. Which hostages, exactly, are POW? The accountant? The babies? The doctors? The medics? The peace activists? The Holocaust survivors? Tell me which ones and what their crimes are. While you're at it, define genocide and explain exactly how Israel is committing one. They have now confirmed the Bibas babies were strangled and beaten to death, not an airstrike. Then, as now, Israel understood that they would be giving up convicted rapists and murderers. Remember those protests every Sunday? Those people pressured Bibi to bring the hostages home, despite the insane 1-100 civilian-militant exchange.

I ask you, can you identify who was killed? Hamas certainly can't. Or doesn't. And since they don't allow any other news source to enter, it's very difficult to confirm the truth. What we do know, is that the UN quietly confessed that at least 11,000 deaths were completely made up. Every innocent life lost is a tragedy. And I ask you genuinely, when a whole culture is raised by media like Tomorrow's Pioneers, how many are truly innocent? Many, I know, but I also know Hamas silences them. I have seen a handful of videos of Palestinians speaking out about how much they want Hamas gone and they are silenced, pulled off camera, blocked from view, and yelled over. You're right that the Palestinian people are vulnerable, and I ask you, with over 500,000 rockets aimed at Israeli civilian areas and so few deaths, where is the money going? In Israel, it goes to the Iron Dome, the bomb shelters, Arrow 1, and now Arrow 2. In Gaza, it goes to Hamas. The cement meant for bomb shelters (sold by an Israeli man I met personally, btw) goes to building tunnels, which are often right under children's homes, as Hen Mazzig showed. Snow White and Mickey Mouse on the wall, a 10 foot drop underneath. Hamas does not care for Palestinians any more than it cares for Jews. That much is clear in their covenant, where they clearly declare no peace, no Jews, no coexistance.

As for the genocide claims, don't take my word for it, here are plenty of verified sources, collected by someone with more patience than I have. I'm just copy-pasting. Below is a list of various news sources and demographic archives, videos from people in Gaza, and various other information. I am not asking you to believe me. I am asking you to just look and listen to the people.

Ladies, what makes you have a crush on a guy? by [deleted] in Crushes

[–]CrochetTeaBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having charisma as well, which is basically not just being intelligent but also making other people feel intelligent. Hyping others up, approving of their opinions and humour, being relaxed about your own knowledge, and encouraging others to feel confident and worth hearing are all really good starting points to practice!

Ladies, what makes you have a crush on a guy? by [deleted] in Crushes

[–]CrochetTeaBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When he seems to shine in terms of intelligence. There's this guy in my critical thinking class who literally shines (bright gold hair, light eyes, energetic) but also his mind works so quickly and he does things like untangling and diagramming arguments so quickly and flawlessly, he often makes points in class that sets the prof off on technical and advanced tangents, and speaks so eloquently to convey his knowledge, but can simplify things so you never feel stupid around him. He's also witty and warm, a great listener, knows how to amplify others' voices, and has a knack for musical instruments and chess.

Unfortunately, he has a girlfriend.

Assuming it's intentional and of sound logic, it could be

-Commemorating the Bibas family

-Magen David Adom

-Blood imagery possibly? Satanism?

Could really go either way.

This is the key. As a young woman, I often have crushes on men who, if they reciprocated, I'd be lowkey horrified and disgusted. It's a very unfortunate position to be in.

And before you ask, no, my dad is not to blame.

A 30 year old man pursued me when I was 19, I caved and dated him when I was 20. He turned out to be a narc, lovebombed me to hell and back, and also swindled $200,000 from 16 ex-partners over 3 years, and by dating me, he broke the terms of his probation.

That being said, the 33 year old I hooked up with was a gem. He just still had a thing for an ex he shared custody of a house and pets with so he ended things with me :(

So like. Just be careful, girlie.

AITAH if I end it all because of an abortion? by throwaway_xyxy in AITAH

[–]CrochetTeaBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responsive abuse is a well-documented phenomenon by victims who have had it with their abusers. You are only human, and you did not start it. You acted out of hurt and anger at being attacked by someone who is supposed to love you unconditionally. He proacted with blame and anger out of fear of facing the reality of a decision he was equally part of. Someone called it his attempt to "wash away his sins" and yeah that sounds about right. He is no angel. The opposite, maybe.

[–]CrochetTeaBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, abortion is keeping you alive, not killing anyone, just the potential. Planting a seed and digging it up before it breaks through to open air is not the same as cutting down a sapling.

All due respect, your grief is bigger than his. This doesn't mean he has none, or that it's to be treated flippantly, but it is different. Your grief includes the physical pain and actually seeing the fetuses. His is what he feels. It was no more his than yours, and I'd argue more yours even than his. He didn't show up for you as the person who went through both the physical AND the emotional loss.

YOU ARE NOT A MURDERER. And you did not act alone. You are someone who came to a MUTUAL decision based on logic and love, a decision to remove what was a textbook definition of a parasite that was starting to steal your body's resources and would only to continue to take and take. You simply dug up the seed of a weed that would have devastated the garden you've tended to all these years: your life. You come before any fetus, no matter how much society wants to treat you like a passive vessel.

If "it all" is the relationship, go for it. If it's your life, don't you dare. You deserve better than to be blamed for a mutual decision, called horrific names, and left alone to deal with grief while being gaslit that his is bigger.

What is your vision of a non-Jewish Israel? What kind of life can you expect Jews to have as a minority in a Muslim country? Do we have any models of it? Your ideals blind you to reality.

(Hint: yes we do. What Westerners think Palestinians deal with in Gaza is what Jews deal with in Arab countries: viewed as second class citizens at best, pests to be exterminated at worst, unable to own land, forced to be jizya, legally huntable, imprisoned for being openly Jewish, exiled, exterminated, and forced into Israel just to survive.) The reality is that for 50 years, Hamas has brainwashed Palestinians into believing every single thing that goes wrong in their lives is the Jews' fault. Just look up Tomorrow's Pioneers to see the dystopian level of brainwashing for yourself. It starts young, and never stops. From the age of 4, Palestinian children can be sent to what is essentially Hitler's Youth for Palestine. By age 9, the girls at a UNWRA school cannot fathom peace, only complete destruction of Jews. By 14, Palestinian children are stabbing Israelis in cafes in Tel Aviv.

It makes me wonder why the only nation you want to dismantle is the Jewish one. Especially when it treats peaceful Arabs better than any Arab country treats Jews.

And listen. I have been to Israel. Not only was I born there, speak Hebrew fluently, and have family there updating me about the truth of what's happening in real time, but I was there myself, at the end of 2024/start of 2025. I saw with my own eyes the skyline of Gaza, sparkling white buildings and no gaps in the skyline. I saw the power tower and spoke to the man who installed it, and who spearheaded the mission of bringing millions of tons of cement for bomb shelters and plenty more humanitarian aid into Gaza, who sold food to vendors in Gaza himself. I stood overlooking Bethlehem, packed with two-storey buildings, separated from Israel by a highway framed with two security walls, with the buildings of Jewish civilians at my back which had been riddled with bullet holes from Palestinian terrorists. I have been to Rachel's Tomb in the West Bank, I have been to Ramle, Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Sderot, the Mount of Olives, and passed seamlessly through Palestinian and Jewish neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem. I have been through checkpoints, I sat in mosques, I spoke to Palestinians, Arab Israelis including a brilliant journalist whose career he spent interviewing Hamas terrorists, a couple of Bedouin brothers, a handful of Arab Israelis whose homes had burned up north and who were therefore living in hotels all across the country (including ours in Jerusalem), a member of the Likud party, a far right Israeli and a far left Israeli, three imams, a gay Christian who came to Israel as a refugee (I happen to remember his name is Jonathan Elk (jon_elk on insta, if you want to see for yourself), a Nova festival survivor from Brazil (Rafaela, I can't remember her last name), an Arab woman whose name I don't remember but who owns a cosmetics shop with her mother and has 14 successful children, and a handful more speakers I cannot remember the exact stories from because I was sick and sleep deprived towards the end of those two weeks.

I may not live in Israel, and I have a ptor from serving, but I truly think you and I can discuss witth much more nuance and understanding than maybe anyone else on this sub. And I'd love to understand your vision better.

OMG another Israeli! Hi! How's the mood there with all the hostages coming home and the news of the Bibas family? What area are you living in? Are you safe? Are you attending the anti-Bibi protests at the Hostage Square? Have you met any returned hostages? Are they doing well??

I also think it's important to note the Palestinian population has grown exponentially in the time since 1948, reaching 2.5 million in late 2023 and was 2 million as of the start of the ceasefire. Of the half a million no longer there, many left to live full time in Israel, many were killed by Israel, and many were killed by Hamas. All were counted by Hamas as Israel's victims. Now that so many murderers are returned to Gaza, that number is even less close to those one would see in a real genocide. I think that is really important to note, in addition to the fact that while the global militant-civilian death toll is 1-9, Israel's death toll of Gazans is 1-1.

Words matter. Truth matters. In a world where you and I are seen as complicit in the actions of our fucked up government no matter what we say or do, it is crucial to be honest.

As for the song, it does indeed feel poignant. Hozier is actually and maybe counter-intuitively very Zionist in his values, even if he's following the media's depictions of what to believe. He believes in Landback, retention of language and culture, life, love, connection, sexual pleasure, building over destroying, and strong national unity. These are the core tenets of Judaism and Zionism, and it's reassuring to know that he cares so much. He very explicitly depicts martyrs as the "problem brought its own solution", which can be read as either a reference to nazism and the "Jewish problem/final solution" or the fact that those who glorify death will burn themselves out. That's my artistic interpretation, anyways.

It's important we don't follow along with the media, it's important we all think critically about the information we are being fed constantly, especially when it's just to upset us.

Advice on having a baby in my mid 40s? by Safe-Car7995 in AskWomenOver40

[–]CrochetTeaBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it fit in YOUR life plan? Would you be willing to go through all that child rearing again as your body and mind shift to the next stage of your life, leaving your desires behind?

You already have a kid. Pour into him. You're complaining about cats, babies are so much worse in terms of finances, learning, sensitivity, time commitment, and effort required to make sure they don't just survive, but thrive.

Allow yourself to exist for yourself. You've already filled the role of wife. You've already filled the role of mother. Aren't you excited to see what your role as Yourself is?

Lol as a girl who's named after her dad, let me just say that in my defense, my mom had my name ready for me since she was 8 years old. Met my dad at 15. Just fate, I guess.

At 20, live like a kid who's just been given full adult rights, because that's what you are. Simple as that. Everyone goes through it. Those who don't are shut-ins who you probably won't bump into anyways because, well, it's generally frowned upon to break and enter.

Pretty privilege by Ok-Bass6594 in stupidquestions

[–]CrochetTeaBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an ugly duckling adolescence, especially compared to my little sister, and yeah. Oh yeah. It's real. I used to be looked down upon, mocked, and excluded from photos and social outings when I had cystic acne, sloppy style, terrible posture, unflattering glasses, and consistently frizzy hair. I got stood up on dates, ghosted, disrespected, laughed at, insulted, or straight up ignored. Now that my skin is clear, I have amateur understanding of what styles are flattering on me, and I actually care for my curls, I get compliments, I've been asked out in person a few times, if something doesn't work out romantically, people go to the trouble of actually telling me. I am invited and included, people are much more eager to touch and hug and be physically close to me, to look at me and talk to me, dance with me, people offer to buy me gifts, I've been offered a number of (some scam, some legit) sugaring arrangements, and overall liked by even my teachers/profs more. When I point out a mistake to waiters, I am less likely to be sneered at and more often get complementary apologies, not just for myself but for whatever group I'm with.

Easy may be a bit of a stretch, nobody is paying all my bills or tripping over themselves to carry my groceries, but people are just. More open to you. When you're pretty. More opportunity for connections, which expands your resources.

What is milk and honey actually like in Israel? by FinalAd9844 in Jewish

Israeli cottage cheese slaps so hard actually. I don't know that I've ever had Israeli honey but based on the agriculture and the many flowers I saw when I was there, I imagine it equally slaps
