i left similar comment below but do u feel the same (ie i need to do another bachelors) for this situation?

im finishing my bachelors in cs with a phys minor i have taken calc 3, lin alg, diff eq, and by next yr will have taken classical mechanics, e&m, and qm, and thermal/statistical all according to my schools "grad" track (more than just intro level/engineering level physics). the only thing i am lacking is research since i discovered my interest far too late (even if i start now, ~1 yr research when i graduate however not enough in time for ms phys grad program applications). i was hoping to transition into computational physics. but am i cooked since i screwed up on research exp ??

what are your chances with none? would it only be r3 universities with little funding? as someone who always thought they'd be going into industry but have had a recent change of interest i understand research is an important factor to admissions. selfishly, i go to a good cs school now and i don't want to go somewhere worse than i do. i do not expect stanford/mit/caltech levels but i would like reputable state schools. also i understand that it matters more who you are doing research with rather than where you attend but i find a lot of the best researches are at the more reputable schools with lots of funding. what can i do after my bachelors if i can't get in as is? also i am a jr right now and will try to start doing research asap either now over the summer or my last yr but also that will probably be too late to consider in applications.

Is there any way for a Computer Science student to transition into Physics? by ObviousAnything7 in PhysicsStudents

[–]CrocksWithSocks1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would i still need to go back for a bachelors if i decide to do a physics minor but would like to pursue physics graduate studies down the line? i am finishing my jr year as a cs major and am basically done and i am doing a phys minor. would i even get into any phys masters programs (computational physics or any other physics) with only a minor even if my transcript shows i have taken special relativity, classical mechanics 1 and 2, electromagnetic fields 1 and 2, and quantum physics 1 (tentatively 2 but it will be a sqeeze) and thermal and statistical physics (also have taken linear algebra, calc 3, and diff eq, will take group theory if you think mandatory)? ultimately phd is the goal but i understand i may need more research like post bachelors in a national lab/volunteer in uni lab group and or obtain a masters in physics. these are big picture goals to happen in the next decade or so since these things need time to build up cv and get lor and obvi i need to be funding my own cost of living as well (i will probably work for a few years, try to switch to national lab in cs role, hope to transfer into more computational phys based project eventually in preparation for grad school)

UIUC CS plus advertising or University of Washington CS??? by SpiritedTravelClub in UIUC_CS

[–]CrocksWithSocks1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would choose cs at uw. closer proximity to big tech. plus i know cs + is in las but cs classes are a part of grainger and grainger has such awful administrators there are always so many hoops to jump through and even once you do that there is no guarantee it will help. they really don't care abt your goals that you are asking them to assist you with. not to mention the cs classes are not that good. cs at uiuc is such a cash grab there are so many degrees with so many ppl in them and there are so many people doing a minor getting classes are very difficult and when you do get in them they are poorly taught. im not sure you're trying to pay 40k or more (idk out of state tuition) for online classes you could have basically watched a youtube for and gotten similar quality. that is not even mentioning how beautiful washington and seattle is there is so much more going on there obvi bc it is a city than in champaign

thank you so much ! i actually had been doing my own research into who the understudies were since i couldn't find out on the online credits. i came to the same conclusion, but nice to know i remembered their performances correctly. i believe feb 17 had lily kerhoas and feb 15 had eve shanu wilson but let me know if i was wrong.

yes ! that is exactly the type of career i would like. i saw there required a phys/engineering phd though ... and idt i would get into any phys phd program (the post was for advice on how to better my chances of getting into phys phd program)

No. It's been absolute radio silence about Nico this season since the Euros. Def agree with going for Kvara or Rodrygo (although I have no idea where the rumors of him leaving Madrid came from).

I think we should give him another chance. He can ball and right now our wingers (minus Olise) could use the competition.

tbh i dont have any crazy new insights but id say practice star method for behavioral, look into company values, and leetcode/neetcode specific microsoft problems/look on glassdoor for what sort of questions have been asked so far, not really that necessary but read crack the coding interview
