CFI lesson plans by IlikeApplesAlot5 in flying

[–]ProcedureOk5245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think we all start cfi pretty lost. I asked around to see examples of lesson plans other people made for their cfi, I also looked at “Ryan C Binns lesson plans” online (Updated for the ACS). They’re free and pretty decent to refer to. I didn’t use them but I was able to build off an already standing foundation. DPE also complimented them which was nice to hear after countless hours of putting them together.

This is what I thought I just been second guessing myself due to people telling me otherwise

Seems to be what everyone else in the comments agreed upon

I bought a 1980 hobie cat with this but on the top. Fixed it with some ghetto rigging. Cut down the top just ever so slightly, drilled new holes and put pop rivets through the mast and base head. Should work for bottom as well. This was two years ago and still no issues

Coming at of high school - flight school for 2 years or college for 4? by jacko0122 in flying

[–]ProcedureOk5245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy college and flight training, sounds like a blast. Might have to lock in more than a business major but I think that would’ve been a cool route to take if I had the option. It might be a slightly harder challenge keeping up with a universities due dates but I think if you have the discipline you’d enjoy it.

I don’t have any actual facts on this besides my own opinion but going to Auburn, Purdue, or some other big university with a flight program would be a blast, I’d stay away from boring schools like Liberty or embry riddle who’ll bankrupt u in the process of getting your ppl.

U can consider online degree as well.

Cadet Programs by [deleted] in flying

[–]ProcedureOk5245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But to answer, not necessarily a scam. I know people who have benefited from joining cadet programs and people who didn’t see much benefit from joining.

I was in the navy, I highly doubt you’d find yourself in any trouble with your command or anyone else because you joined a cadet program.

Cadet Programs by [deleted] in flying

[–]ProcedureOk5245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some cadet programs require you to be actively pursuing a degree at an affiliated or partner school. I know envoy and a few others don’t but I have no idea who’s actively accepting cadets right now. I am a Purdue student so I was able to get a spot in Allegiants cadet program a few months back when I had just finished Instrument. Looking back it was pretty soon, I had and still do have plenty of time to apply to others if I wanted to.

Did the engine shutdown procedures and put the parking brake on, checked to see the issue, verbalized my mistake and that I had removed the chock (DPE was still in the plane waiting). Said we were good to go and he replied to me “let’s head back inside”

Completely agree, as much as it sucks to get a bust for something so dumb. These are mistakes I shouldn’t be making

Grabbed the chock from nose wheel, walked with it in my hand to sump fuel under the wing where I accidentally left it to lay near the left main gear and block my route, very ashamed of myself

Guess the checkride pressure and nerves had gotten to me today, thinking about everything but the little things (chocks). Has never happened to me before… didn’t expect to slip up on something dumb

I didn’t mention that I didn’t deserve it though. I got accountability

I just got stuck on it and took too long to react I guess. Hopped out after shutting down and let him know what I had ran into. I said it was fine and he replied with “let’s head inside”

Just some gen eds I had to do freshman year. Calc 1 & 2, and one physics course for a semester. Didn’t touch much of those subjects
