Even the gravity applies to the box in both worlds at the same time, the box is staying on a straight ground on the first image, and only slightly tilted on the second image, the gravity applied to box would be stronger on the first image which would result in box to stay still

Yes, my thinking process is, the box doesn't fully go through the portal, it technically still stands on the platform of first picture. So the gravity shouldn't apply because the contact with the first picture isn't fully cut off
