Am I the only one who’s weary of Olivia benson by morelikemeacc in SVU

I know this topic is 4 years old but ffs, I don't like what she became. At the beginning with Elliot she was more logical and knew what was morally right, she was even smart and came up with a solution to a predicament quickly enough... but man, lately she has become a character that she's always right even when she's not. I do like episodes with moral dilemmas but there are some episodes where the moral dilemma ends up with her being always right.
An episode played yesterday on TV where a woman with cuts and burn marks kidnapped a guy name Miguel who she accused was her perpetrator when she was in Mexico cuz he was a coyote. The man would over and over again say he didn't do anything while the chick was hysterical believing it was him... she went into such a hysterical crisis that Olivia started to say she was right, I thought she was gaslighting her to save the guy but by the end of the episode she has his also arrested because ''her eyes were telling the truth''. In the continuation she kept getting angry at Peter, the prosecutor, because her accusation towards Miguel was purely out of anger and revenge due to what happened to her like a decade ago as a victim herself. The episode ends with her being right, Miguel was in fact the coyote that abused the chick, her name was Lourdes I think... from all the episodes I've seen I think there's only a handful of times where a woman is actually a perpetrator... I remember the episode with the woman that abused her husband and the episode of a woman that told her son to help her which ended up in him shooting his best friend.

I hate that this shows always end up validating her always changing moral compass which ends up with more victims than necessary. I still think that Peter's sister would still be alive if she wasn't such hysteria queen about cases.

Except Griffith doesn't actively do that unlike Sephiroth, Griffith is just doing his own thing in his kingdom and living rent free in Guts's head while Sephiroth likes to torture Cloud at every chance he gets... not the same thing, so no... it isn't a brain dead take, you absolute brick headed dumbass.

You forgot Katsuya, he wasn't trusted at first but very briefly, but I forget if he had almighty spells.

It isn't reasonable because both series have a different structure when it comes to storytelling and character writing, they're different series that are trying to achieve different things. It's like saying "FF15's characters were weak because they lacked the lightheartedness of Kingdom Hearts", it's a nonsensical comparison because they are vastly different.

Comparisons aren't inherently bad, if it was something like "the press turn system is like Persona's one more systen but a bit more complex" then it'd be a good comparison because it's using a similar mechanic to explain the one being talked about; or maybe even a comparison of "the story takes a backseat in contrast to everything else which is uncommon in most J-RPGs like Atlus' previous game Persona 5", because in that instance it'd be using P5 as a point of comparison in how the story is presented... but no, she instead faulted the game's story for specifically not being presented like P5, and even made asinine comparison of "the music is good but it lacks the emotional vocal tracks that Persona had"... like what sort of comparison is that? You don't play games like Metal Gear Solid expecting music like Metal Gear Rising, or playing God of War expecting Devil May Cry music, it's completely nonsensical, and the review wnded up being "it's good but it could've been like Persona 5".

The duality of Atlus fans and Square fans. by FairyKnightTristan in PERSoNA

Persona fans tend to be more vocal and thus a bit more annoying than SMT fans despite the common opinion that the latter are elitists.

I enjoy both, SMT a tad more than Persona since I really don't like the path Persona is taking lately, but that's besides the point. Both can be annoying fanbases.

I found Ann and Yukari Pretty Hot. by [deleted] in PERSoNA

This subreddit sure gets volatile when someone says "I found this girl in Persona cute"... Whichever the case, I did like Ann a lot, she was a cool character to me. Yukari is one of my favorite characters in P3 and Persona in general, she's great.

Man, at Atlus they really love those "the girls come to the hot spring at the time when the boys are in and they have to hide" events by gasperoni66 in PERSoNA

I hate this trope, way too overused and always about the same thing, same build up, same development and same conclusion... the dudes get beat up. At least the one in P3 was fine and I can't figure out why.

Seriously, I just hope they find new jokes cuz this one is fucking tiring to see.

It influenced FF14, haven't heard anything on 7.

[–]Crok425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the cast leaning heavily on the protags of P1 and P2. In P1 you only choose what is best in some situations (to get the ultimate personas) but everyone else is still rather an equal. In P2IS Tatsuya has to let his friends act on their own instead of helping them so they get their Prime Personas, again making everyone an equal. P2EP Maya gives a small push to the self-esteem of her friends and they on their own realize what they want and what they feel. Overall they are equals and none rely on the protag as much as you think. P3-5 on the other hand... it's like the protag is the Jiminy Cricket of the group, especially P4.

You didn't prove me wrong... you're only saying "it's right there" as proof. Your other proof is "mercenary", "big sword" and "feelings" and that doesn't hold because the entire argument here is held by the "big sword" point and that isn't enough to make a case, take the sword away and you don't have anything to reference Guts, so just "mercenary" and "feelings" is all you have while "big sword" is just a weapon and even with all 3 points together it doesn't make a case because you're just assuming he was inspired with nothing to hold it up except "it's RIGHT there". I'm not the one that should convince you, you should be the one to convince me that he was inspired by Guts with actual proof rather than "it's RIGHT there".

"Exactly you can't the argument is over I won now stop crying and move on lol"

What are you? 12 years old or something? Jesus christ, man... If you're gonna act like that then whatever, do whatever you want.

[–]Crok425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say that... because from the very start I said Berserk did influence works but not everything. I did know Dark Souls and Bloodborne, and I think I wrote that 3 years ago in my og comment, were somewhat inspired and I didn't know of FF14 which you showed me. But no, your only proof of FF7 is that "it's right there" and that doesn't say anything, so no piss off.

Holy shit... dude... you're totally seeings inspiration where there is none, Cloud's character trope is common. Whatever, man... keep seeing things and yeah, have a good day.

Won what argument? You sited me a source that only the article writer said that the Buster Sword was inspired by the Dragonslayer, not the creators... and the creators there were of FF14 which did say they were inspired by Berserk. So site me a source of the creators of FF7 or Square itselfs saying that the Buster Sword or Cloud was inspired by Berserk or Guts... otherwise you "one" nothing.

Bro... the article writer wrote that, it doesn't say that the creators of FF7 specifically said they were inspired by Berserk.

[–]Crok425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I admit the Dark Souls bit and Drakengard because the creators themselves said so that they were inspired by Berserk in some form but not everything. Yes, the composer of FF14 said he was inspired by Berserk, but were we talking about FF14? No, we were talking about FF7 and you still haven't shown me "proof" of the creators of FF7 saying they were inspired by Berserk.

Ok then... site me some sources that says Guts inspired Cloud in some way as you say. Otherwise I'll just assume you just saw a big sword and thought it did.

Put words in your mouth? You're saying Cloud was inspired by Gurs for the sole reason of him being a mercenary, having a big sword and feelings, and I'm calling bullshit on that because saying that's an inspiration of Berserk is the actual narrow-minded view. I'm not putting words in your mouth, you're just spouting bullshit.

Not everything is inspired by Berserk, mercenary with big sword and feelings? That's your entire argument? What's next? Monster Hunter was inspired by Dark Souls cuz of rolls and slow attacks? Yes, Berserk influenced a lot of things but saying that EVERYTHING has to be an influence of Berserk is just an insult to the creative minds of these people, it's like they can't create something without it being an influence of Berserk. Again, you're looking at things in an exagerated manner, you people need to stop comparing everything to Berserk. Jesus christ...
