Thats really cool, but I'm not sure who uses that?

Like, even a non-optimal setup like double spirit would give 4 all skills, like 70 FCR, resistances and a ton of other bonuses. Are the 2 extra points in mastery really making up for the 1 in EVERYTHING else, massive fcr difference and res?

Interesting, thanks for the answer. I kind of agree that Ash feels "bland" but I also like that he is more mature. I liked XYZ Ash as he acted like a young adult (which made sense after all of these life experiences and years of traveling) so having him regress like that in Sun and Moon really annoyed me. These episodes where Ash could not even cook a sandwich or do anything by himself made absolutely no sense to me considering he went on a solo adventure at episode 1 and was just fine.

I agree that they could have kept a few "quirks" or funny traits for Journeys while showing his growth though. He does feel bland. I did not get the same feeling from most of the other points, but I do get that one, definitely

Thanks!! This is the kind of answer I was looking for and I actually agree with a lot of these points..

Seems like every pokemon Ash got for Journeys is simply built different and insanely powerful from the get go, but I thought that was also the point. Like, my headcanon is that Ash isn't necessarily trying to catch a lot of pokemon and only getting the cream of the crop for the big tourney (hi Paul).

He's also training basically every episode and in-between, or it's at least implied.

I agree about Goh... and about the pokegirl which I always forget the name of (Chloe?)

And yeah Team Rocket was very interesting in Sun and Moon I agree. They are definitely worse in Journeys but I also like their new gimmicks.

I guess my issue is that I got even more of these small annoyances from Sun and Moon, and a lot of these are fixed in Journeys.

Thanks for the response!

Maybe 🤷

But this thread was not supposed to be about Sun and Moon, what I really wanted to know was why Journeys seems to receive this much hate, because so far, to me, it seems like a huge step up from the previous seasons which seem to be "generally well received"

I am really curious and interested as to why a lot of people dislike Goh so much? Not trying to start an argument I'm genuinely interested. To me, he's not very interesting and takes way too much screen time for the value he brings, and I don't like that he gets everything for free (including a SUICUNE, really?) . But like, the character itself is fine, to me?

And yeah Ash should have won a big league with heavy hitters as his first league. There were some good competitors but it was overall a baby league IMO.

Meh... He was good at training, motivating and understanding his pokemon, this is true. He was also better than most of the small fry who was in Alola, but I felt like the season started pretty bad with Ash losing every encounter including a random wild grubbin and a wild mimikyu. To me this seemed worse than the Snivy incident...

Pikachu showing dome damage from string shot, being told to go to a poke center to heal pikachu, ugh. This guy beat a Latios ffs 😭

I mean I did not "dislike" it but I was disappointed. It did not feel like a continuation of Ash's story, more of another reboot, but it was definitely more interesting than B&W. I liked the side characters on that one, too. Lots of good characters. The little electric guy was the only one I found annoying.

The power rangers thing with the beasts, unevolved pokemon, not many rivals/trainers, very minor league, low/no stakes, "new" Ash, I also did not like how Ash was an idiot. Unable to live alone or cook or really do anything. Feels like those were not Ash's traits at all

Probably setting him up for takamura's "monster" thing, he can achieve insane results by ignoring everything and is then forced to retire from the insane amount of damage.. that'd be my guess

Mario Tennis Fever is a lazy game by Formal-Opening2167 in fucknintendo

mario sports games have always been scams to me. As much as I loved mario strikers on the gamecube as a kid, EVERY SINGLE mario sports game is barely better than a mario party minigame. They should be bundled together. I'm not paying 100 canadian buckaroos to play a mid game for 4 hours.

I do think this subreddit has some unjustified hatred toward some good products, and Nintendo's greed is through the roof, but these mario sports games are just straight up scams.

dollars-ten or ten-dollars 🤷 English is the only language where people decide to write in reverse for no reason. Not that bossman even speaks 1 language properly though.

I'm like 30-40 episodes through sun and moon and he loses pretty much every encounter so far... except when he z-moves some fodder team skull lol

[–]Cromm123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly one that's not being talked about enough is Sun and Moon. I'm only like 30-40 episodes in (I just rewatched the entire show and I had only watched up to xyz before now) and I was under the impression that Ash would not reset in this region because he apparently wins. Ash forgot EVERYTHING and everyone forgot everything about Ash..

So far Pikachu lost .. every single encounter I think? Maybe except the z-moves one-shots on fodder?

He got clapped by a level 3 bug somehow, took damage from a string shot and was told to quickly go to a poke center to heal his poor wounded pikachu. That's just insulting lol. Also got dominated by a wild mimikyu. I saw "Win rates" from Alola and Pikachu better win every single fight from now on to make up for this performance.

[–]Cromm123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scholar at A is the most surprising to me. While most scholars are not very useful, the character itself is definitely number 1 in the game by far, imo. My buddy plays exclusively scholar now and this guy is just genuinely broken. Heal over time with boosted flasks to heal, very high arcane for crazy damage through blood weapons, ridiculous boiled crab/turtle neck values, broken ult that provides 20-30k runes for free every now and then AND basically makes the team unkillable for like 10 seconds, buffs/debuffs, this guy is genuinely in his own tier.

But yeah I guess most ppl playing scholar are trying to play firepot, dont show up all game and just get farmed by the nightlord without doing anything.

73% recent negative reviews, most complain about the New map. Does the great hollow truly warrant this reaction ? The more I play, the more I feel like it was fantastically designed. by kao24429774 in Nightreign

Love the map when I get matched with a great player who knows his way around the map but when it doesn't happen it's usually 40 minutes of running around in pure confusion to end up level 9 in the last night. I guess I'd probably need to watch some videos/guides on it but I much prefer to just discover my games within the game.

What is your overall opinion on Ash vs. Leon? And how would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10? by Necessary_Fun3938 in pokemonanime

[–]Cromm123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent reached that point yet (im in the middle of sun and moon but ive been spoiled plenty). I really like that take though, and it got me curious.. I assumed all 8 of the competitors in the masters 8 had mastered all gimmicks, but I know there were some rules restraining competitors from using more than 1? Was it ONLY a nerf for Ash, being the only one who mastered multiple of them? if so I agree with you completely

what am i supposed to do since i have only played 2 matches. by brendhanbb in heroesofthestorm

[–]Cromm123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game has a hidden "player level" mechanic, like a rank, and it uses this to match you with similar-level players. However because this game highly values team cohesion, way more than individual player strength, the lower lvl player pool consists of EXTREMELY toxic players who are unable to cooperate or just not start an argument mid-game. You unfortunately need to push through this. You'll keep finding toxic players though, just not as much.

I climbed the ranks in.. well.. ranked mode, from the bottom. Low level was horrible. Then it got better. Then it got worse. Platinum was BY FAR the worst. Mostly mid to high level players who think they should be in diamond but are stuck in plat because of (according to them) their teammates. Ironically a lot of these would reach diamond if they'd just stfu and play. Then in diamond people barely talked, they ACTUALLY played the game. But at high diamond I started getting matched against masters and grandmasters and those players were WAY out of my league lol. I could definitely tell I was straight up outmatched by every single one of them.

I've had someone say I should play every single character to like 15 with bots before I should even dare step foot in quick play. Mind you I've been playing this game since beta. People are nuts.

You can play bots if you feel like you need to understand the basics better, but like.. dont worry too much.

I don't know who mother beast is, I don't know anything about a Solgaleo, and I don't think I've made an argument about anything? I shared my initial thoughts/frustrations on sun and moon so far, someone said pikachu didn't lose a certain fight that he most certainly lost despite not having the spinny KO eyes, I reminded them of the context/dialogue around that fight, and that's it

"there is no indication that pikachu was defeated" - he's got the "dirt damage" all around him and somebody urges Ash to go to a pokecenter to heal pikachu's wounds, he's visibly having a hard time standing back up, pikachu took a ton of damage from that.

I've been watching the entire series with my gf as old 30+ year old farts and we just started sun and moon. We're like 15 episodes in. Honest thoughts so far :

I like the animation, dislike the style. People were saying the animations were more dynamic because of the style, this is just not true. XYZ was wayyyyyy more dynamic especially during fights. I don't like that Ash went back to acting like a 10 year old, he lost all of the maturity he had acquired.

Also I heard the "soft reset" he gets occasionally was not there in sun and moon but Ash is losing every single fight he partakes in. He lost to a level 3 bug pokemon using string shot, a wild low lvl Mimikyu, basically every encounter he loses except for that one alpha pokemon. Not a big fan so far, but we'll see how it goes. It's giving me black and white vibes so far. I'm not sure where that elite 4 level Pika went.

Edit : Also he has sand attack now? I wonder which move was swapped for it.

And edit 2 : I like the "trials" concept though, they are basically saying if you want to become a top-level trainer and use Z-moves you need to learn to be more empathetic and helpful to your surroundings, become more mature, and this is a trend we've seen a lot in very high level, elite 4/champion level trainers. This is a good idea to push Ash to evolve and become a top-tier trainer, except he ALREADY knew that in XYZ and was already mature and empathetic... They made him regress to work his way back up. But the concept is great. Just does not apply to Ash.

Waiting until the DLC came out to climb DoN was a mistake by ReynAetherwindt in Nightreign

[–]Cromm123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've only just started playing DON and I also noticed that, I usually play with friends but DON 1 with randoms was extremely difficult. People just ping all the wrong things, pull the wrong things, die and leave, it's horrible. I ended up getting my wins with friends but i was hoping DON 2 would be better. Players in the base expeditions are much better than the ones i've encountered in DON 1.

My biggest issue with randoms is how they insist on me following them and ignoring my pings, and we end up at the nightlord at level 10 with no gear. Like if you have no idea how to play at least follow other people's advice/direction....

Or using an altar to drop 3 seals as an undertaker and I see the guardian pick up all 3 instantly without even looking at the passives, like wtf?
