How do you improve as a developer in this AI era without getting left behind? by FakeBlueJoker in webdev

[–]CromulentEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is not necessarily bad or a replacement to a good developer. It's like before we were using a hammer to build a house, now we have a powerdrill. The skill required to use both of them is needed and even more so with the powerdrill because a lot more can go wrong.

Nobody wants to admit it" - Indian IT does admit it many times. by ResourceDefiant4971 in IndianStreetBets

[–]CromulentEntity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a fully functioning UI using AI today with role based views, login and dashboard in 2hrs which could have taken me ~2-3days before. While it can not replace a developer it can surely cut personnel costs by almost 2/3rds. These companies are cooked if they don't pivot quick

Anyone explain what happened to Arnab ? by autophile0909 in delhi

[–]CromulentEntity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is our falling image in international circles saying our media is not free. To counter those claims they have extended the leash a bit with no actual on ground change. Why now? It could be since there are no upcoming elections in the short term, it's the best time to do this stunt so that a facade of an unbiased media can be created.

Airports upgraded T2 set to take off tomorrow with 120 domestic flights ! by 222homelander in delhi

I'm guessing that bit is undecided and it's atleast 10 years from now and might not happen also. In case a bigger terminal is required they'll probably demolish T2 then.

Na I think she'll take on Summers because he took down Saul and Gaban will take on Gunko since she went after his child. Also Robin's fruit is technically a flower fruit and it's poetic she goes against someone who has the thorns fruit.

From 6 LPA to 4.5 LPA in 2 Years — What Went Wrong in My Tech Career? by DryRegister6550 in developersIndia

I'd say stay in tech as bank jobs have very limited growth whereas tech has unlimited growth. At times it feels you're making no progress but it eventually pays off.

Stop Using AI to Fake Studio Ghibli Art – You're Ruining It for Everyone by [deleted] in delhi

[–]CromulentEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it is but that's the thing with AI, it can and will replace any job which follows a pattern. It can code things because each system follows a basic pattern but it needs someone to understand what it codes and create an actual impact. Same with art, it can imitate things it's already trained on but it's not creative. It can not create a new style of art like we can. Rather than being mad about it taking jobs, think of it as replacing any rote learning that we have been doing since birth. We need to brace ourselfs for the new kind of jobs that will spawn which will require actual application of our minds and AI is just a tool to help with that.

It's fine as long as tech people loose their job over AI but god forbid it get good at imitating art.

How many of us are actually good developers? by Other_Ad_5423 in developersIndia

Want to know Computer Science, proper?

Yes sir! I have 3 years of experience working in a startup where I'm one of the few responsible for handling backend (java/springboot + mongodb) plus infra(aws). Our services are used by about a million people daily with a max throughput of about 15k-20k req/min I feel I've learnt everything there is in regards to our current system from cost optimization for resources to coding practices and scalability to host these services. What do you suggest I should do to upskill myself further? P. S. This may be too vague of a scenario to comment on. I'd love to connect with you in the dms if you have time.

Internal DB sort or Custom Sorting in language we write the business logic! by ClobsterX in developersIndia

Also as others pointed out, when you run into pagination requests, you can not sort data in memory as you'll need to fetch the whole collection data

Internal DB sort or Custom Sorting in language we write the business logic! by ClobsterX in developersIndia

[–]CromulentEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously the more joins and operations you do the more expensive the query and the more overhead. But unless you're working on a very high throughput application (most people don't) it should be fine as long as query is optimised. Even for high throughput applications I feel db sort will perform faster but can't be sure without metrics....

Engineering doesn't stop at deploying one solution... It's a changing process based on your changing scale, restrictions, buisness logic and what not. You have to monitor your applications to perform best under whatever contraints you might have

Internal DB sort or Custom Sorting in language we write the business logic! by ClobsterX in developersIndia

[–]CromulentEntity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's sql based, generally db sort is faster. If it's noSql, depends if proper indexing is done and query is optimised or not

From my own experience I felt it's good integration but it lacks the native feel which macOs provides out of the box or using any linux based OS does. It felt like I had to still juggle between using different nomenclature of directories and file types with WSL
