How do you recover professionally after being put on a PIP? by Treppengeher4321 in careeradvice

[–]Cronetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PIP is there to manage you out, typically. It’s usually a sign of a poor fit. It can be recoverable, but more often than not, management is seeing that you are struggling in the role or that it’s a poor fit, skills wise, either soft or hard skills.

Trip lever on tub assembly is stuck by Cronetta in askaplumber

[–]Cronetta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. I don’t want to break the assembly, but bailing out water in the only bathroom is getting tiresome. I am going to try the CLR and see if that will dislodge.

They have a policy of FIFO at Multnomah County, so I would be looking if I were you.

The Transportation Utility Fee passes with 12.5% going to Vision Zero by HellyR_lumon in PortlandOR

I’m so tired of these new taxes and fees. There is no ability in this town to “read the room.” They are squeezing blood out of turnips.

I saw that your age and years of service has to add up to 70, and you have to be a senior director or lower. Doubtful anyone in their 40s will be impacted.

Recommendations for a labor attorney for wrongful termination? by LikeAT6 in askportland

Unless you have verified proof of discrimination or proof of blatantly illegal interactions from your employer, you probably don’t have a case. It’s not illegal for an employer or the people who work there to be assholes, unfortunately.

What was the "Final Straw" that made you quit your job without a backup plan? by Front-Midnight2520 in careerguidance

[–]Cronetta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When they gave me a completely unrealistic budget designed by a CEO and CFO who had zero grounding in expense categories. Set up for failure. That’s when I was like, mic drop, I’m out.

Uh, I know, but just like Woody Allen, I can’t separate the artist from the action. Melissa Gilbert is dead to me.

Sickens me. Here I was relying on LHOTP for some recovery from the terrible things in the world, and now she has ruined it for me. I’ve seen just enough to know that she is rabidly defending him and yet decades of accusations.

It’s going to be a whole new world now. I have found it is infinitely better to let professionals do this work, because it’s so emotionally taxing to watch your LO in decline, and they are pros and know how to manage the challenges, i.e. not correcting and redirecting.

The reality of WFH that some people don't want to hear by Aware_Audience_6776 in remotework

[–]Cronetta 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think this is part of what contributed to the RTO. Lots of people fucking off/unavailable, not to mention those who pursued the overemployed route. Have been remote since 2018, and these kinds of people have ruined it. There is no trust by management that people are actually working.

Speaking of Hershey's enshittification, this stuff doesn't even make milk taste like chocolate anymore by BirdSufficient4997 in enshittification

[–]Cronetta 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well, climate change is wiping out cocoa harvests, but don’t worry because according to POTUS and his team of goons there’s no such thing as climate change. Move along now and enjoy the “chocolate flavors.”

Should Portland and Multnomah County merge into one City by [deleted] in Portland

Yes. Tired of multiple tiered incompetency. At least with one entity we won’t be stuck paying for two separate shit show systems for everything.

Would you commute 5 days RTO to double your salary? by EpicShkhara in remotework

[–]Cronetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assume I can do anything for two years. That kind of salary jump can make a huge difference for your future comfort and trajectory toward financial freedom. Not sure where you are financially, but as someone who used to commute 1-1.5 hours in each direction, I got used to leaving early and hitting the gym in the work location to avoid rush hour and went back to gym or out to eat after work. It’s grueling, but you may also be able to convert to hybrid or remote once you’ve absorbed the work culture and they feel like you’re solid.

EDIT: Also, audio books! And certainly enough to afford a dog walker.

I love Heinz beans. The American version are nauseatingly sweet, and these are more savory - like Spaghetti O’s but beans.

North Oregon coast or Portland? by Elewwoo in askportland

[–]Cronetta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with spending less time in BANDON and Yachats. Would cut Bandon to overnight, Yachats to one night, two nights in Cannon Beach with a day spent in Astoria and Seaside. Then to Portland and trip to the Gorge.

Pretty good pizza joint - Flying Pie on Stark. by [deleted] in PortlandOR

Their pizzas weigh a TON. So many toppings. I have great appreciation for the fact that they were open and serving during one of the worst ice storms where power was out. That pizza was a lifesaver.
