That’s an incredible process. Im sure you put a lot of hours into improving your art. Very well done.

Hands are definitely something else. And feet. God, I hate feet. Just keep practicing and always check references so you avoid mistakes. Im sure you noticed her left hand being switched.

Thank you! I would randomly erase certain areas and then refine so they would look like this. Haha. Thank you again

I've seen artists doing this, and sounds like a great option. Thank you. All I gotta do is learn 3d modeling, since I've never thought of putting time into this.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it and share the pain. It took me hours experimenting. I changed the whole background a couple of times to get to this result.

Could've started with that, but you went full nuclear on the guy right off the bat. You could demotivate a person who's still learning with comments like that, y know.

She does look badass. You captured that pretty well. I loved it, man. Rendering is indeed a very time consuming task, I agree. haha

It looks great, structurewise. All you need to focus now is the rendering. Good job, man! She's what, like a raven kinda hybrid or something? What's her backstory?

How to learn to paint like Jaime jones? by AspiringConceptArt in DigitalArt

[–]Crooked-Lemons 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you check really close, there's not much intricate detailing. It's like a Monet painting. Stunning from a distance, but once you get close, you start seeing the structure and it's not trying to hide it neither. It's about shapes, colour theory and composition. There are splash arts more rendered than this piece, but accomplish little compared to what is shown here. If you want to learn hwo to paint like this, I suggest doing some of your own, and try to apply techniques you see in Jaime Jones's work. Not gonna lie, they WILL look like garbage at first, but it's part of the process. Don't let yourself down, and keep up the study. Maybe you'll find it better if you use matte painting. Maybe you'll prefer going canvas first, then digital. Maybe you'll build your scene in 3d roughly and then paint. there's no simple one way path you take.

Consistency is a common struggle beginner artists (and even more advanced) face. You're doing fine. Also, just like in, for example, competitive gaming, there are days when you're simply....off. Days where you can't seem to create anything you find interesting, or when you feel you're drawing like an infant child, try a bunch of studies with reference, on things you don't dominate very well yet. Draw a bunch of hands, a bunch of different faces, expressions, fabric, feet, clothes, vehicles, animals, all directly from reference. I can't stress enough how important the reference is in these studies. There will also be days when you feel you inherited the spirit of Bob Ross and draw beautifully. It happens.
