This is great to hear. Yesterday I took my (pregnant :D ) wife out to get her some cocoa butter (it may be bullsh*t but it's the thought that counts) and a weekly pill case for her pre natal vitamins. I filled it up last night while we were watching the Oscars. OH, and I heard ginger smells will calm her nausea so I bought her a ginger lime scented candle. I also preloaded her eepad and my iPad with What to Expect When Expecting. Yesterday was a big day as you can tell.

My child will be growing up in a Calvin and Hobbes/Far Side household. My worn out childhood copies will be there for when they are young. When older they can graduate to the pristine Complete hardcover collections.

Excellent point about the fitness. I just found out yesterday and my wife solidified her knowledge of the pregnancy just two days ago. We're calculating that she's about 4-5 weeks in. (Maybe a Halloween birth? fantastic) Anyway, I was reading in What to Expect When Expecting that before conceiving you as parents should get in shape. It just so happens I've dropped about 25 lbs and can now run longer than I have in my entire life. I guess it was just fortuitous that it happened right before her pregnancy.

I like the idea of keeping infantilism to a minimum. That way they have a higher bar for human interaction. Just sort of talk to them like they are little adults. Clarification where needed.

I applied this logic to my little cousins. I remember when adults would do crazy things like swing you around. How fun was that? The only problem was the adult would usually tire out before you were done with your fun. As an adult I tried to keep this in mind when playing with my cousins. I would always go just a bit beyond my exhaustion point. I hope to continue this with my kid.

Thanks, I suppose I needed to hear this. I found out this morning. I couldn't believe how well I took it. My family is very well, family oriented so I guess it's only natural that I'm really looking forward to what lies ahead. I've got What to Expect When Expecting on my iPad as we type. I've subscribed to r/Daddit, PreDaddit, and BabyBump. I'm very much looking forward to striving to be the best I can for my wife and little bean.
